GrySql Report post Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) Uhhh. Unless you have a time machine April 1, 2014 is a little over two months into the future. ;)A senior moment.... duh...I'm feeling much better this morning. :) Edited January 29, 2014 by GrySql
hermans Report post Posted January 29, 2014 Are they interchangeable? Maybe you could do a swap and see if there is any difference.I think I'll let GrySql be the guinea pig on this. If it was summer time I would do it, but in the middle of this cold weather....no. 1 GrySql reacted to this
SteveB_TX Report post Posted January 30, 2014 My partners 2013 FFH was built March 19, 2013. No plastic thingy. My 2013 MKZh was built March 22, 2013. It has the plastic thingy. Very odd seeing as how they were both built on the same line only days apart. 1 hybridbear reacted to this

hybridbear Report post Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) So, in summary:MKZs3/22/13 is the earliest online to have the resonance chamber (Steve_B) FFEs2/12/13 is the earliest online to have the resonance chamber (Jeff_h) FFHs4/30/13 still doesn't have the resonance chamber (vangonebuy)5/7/13 is the earliest online to have the resonance chamber (our white FFH) Let's keep trying get more build dates and whether or not your car has the chamber to fill in a more complete picture of the data. Especially if your car was built after one of the dates above and is missing the resonance chamber or has the chamber and was built before a date above. dalesky Report post Posted January 31, 2014 mine was built on that empty highway leading into Atlanta, during the filming of The Walking Dead. It has an awesome zombie catcher on the front!

GrySql Report post Posted January 31, 2014 This is getting weird but fun to figure out.My other interest is that the newer FFH's seem to get better mpg's as a rule. Will this resonance chamber and air reservoir help to mix the Atkinson motors 'blow back gases' to make the car run better and get better mpg's?We shall see. hybridbear Report post Posted January 31, 2014 Mine were built on 2/12/13 and 3/15/13 and each one has it.Interesting!! I updated my post above with your earliest date. I'm curious if we have an MKZ owner who can go earlier than your Energi.
Riggo Report post Posted February 1, 2014 I'm really interested to hear the engines that have this chamber. While I've always found the engine a tad loud, I've never found it unbearable. I'm wondering how many decibels it's suppressing. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
hybridbear Report post Posted February 1, 2014 I'm really interested to hear the engines that have this chamber. While I've always found the engine a tad loud, I've never found it unbearable. I'm wondering how many decibels it's suppressing. It's noticeably quieter. We never found the black FFH to be annoyingly loud, but we could always tell when the ICE was running. With the white FFH, I often cannot even tell that the ICE is on by sound because it's so quiet now.
GrySql Report post Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) I received the new Air Intake Tube w/Resonator, installed it and as far as I can determine it makes the car quieter when the ICE is running.Normally the ICE would growl, or moose call, under certain conditions and I found the noise to be irritating and certainly a sound that was out of place in a car this quiet and technological.I have detailed the install of this part in another Thread. kuzzi Report post Posted February 10, 2014 I'll double check mine during lunch. Build date 4/28/
tclemmer Report post Posted February 10, 2014 This probably doesn't help but mine does have the resonator and the build date is 5/16/2013. I was all set to order the part and then I thought I better go out an look. I was disappointed to see it already had it as I feel like the ICE is loud for such a nice car. vangonebuy Report post Posted February 11, 2014 FFH SE4.30.13No resonator 1 hybridbear reacted to this
hybridbear Report post Posted February 11, 2014 Thanks kuzzi & vangonebuy. One thing that Jeff_h suggested was tracking SE versus Titanium in case there was a change there. Kuzzi has a HyTi from 4/28/13 without the resonator and vangonebuy has an SE without it from 4/30/13. Our white FFH from 5/7/13 is an SE and has it. I guess we really lucked out with the timing on this white FFH. Here is an updated chart:MKZ Hybrid3/22/13 is the earliest online to have the resonance chamber (Steve_B)Fusion Energi2/12/13 is the earliest online to have the resonance chamber (Jeff_h)Fusion Hybrid4/30/13 still doesn't have the resonance chamber (vangonebuy)5/7/13 is the earliest online to have the resonance chamber (our white FFH)Let's keep trying get more build dates and whether or not your car has the chamber to fill in a more complete picture of the data.
