Need member in Atlanta Area to test Grill Covers

I need someone in Atlanta area to test Grill Covers for 2013 FFH. I have made a prototype set but need to figure out how to mount them. :)

You mean besides the grill shutters the car already has? If you are making extra shutters the moderators of this forum are already doing this. I think one has started a side business selling them. You may be a day late and a dollar short.

I invented grill covers for the C-Max the end of 2012 which improved gas mileage by 2-4 mpg during the winter months. Several of your forum members contacted me to see if I could make grill covers for the Fusion Hybrid. I am simply looking for someone in the Atlanta area who is willing to do some testing with and without the grill covers since I do not own a Fusion Hybrid. What's the design of your grille cover?

Bad news is that I hit a deer last night in my C-Max; the good news is that I have a Fusion Hybrid rental car so can now finish testing the grill covers. The C-Max grill covers, wheel covers and GasPods survived the impact, however the main grill cover did suffer a small crack. The buck did not survive.

I killed a deer with my Flex, caused over 4K in damage, most of it hidden behind the bumper. The headlight alone was nearly a grand. The deer did not survive, their heads make a sick popping sound when you roll over them.

Looking forward to hearing your results. Especially with the cold snap headed your way. It's supposed to be down near 0^o here on Saturday. It was -25^oF the other night where my wife's parents live in northern Alberta. That air mass is moving south and east and is supposed to push cold temps all the way down to the southern USA.

Things I have learned so far. I have a Standard loop on I85 about .3mi. from my shop to the next exit and back 14.4mi total. ECO Cruise @ 70MPH.

Bottom Grill Cover does make a difference, just not a lot.

With all Covers on it took 7mi. to get to 195degrees and 11mi. to get to 230degrees and Smart Temp Gauge reading middle.

3.6mi. EV, .7 Reg., 70%HBSOC, Rad. Fan Off, OT 65degrees, 43.8MPG, BKS 97%

I will do another run without covers when FFH cools off.

 

I probably should start a thread. I have a bunch of info to pass along. :)

Nope, they dont cover enough area to give the same effect.

 

Those temps you are seeing, I never ever reached them in the other car with all the covers on. My trips were 34 miles one way, so you would think they would get close, but the most I ever saw was 200*, and that was after sitting at a light, then it dropped back to 180* as soon as I started moving. I guess i need to get the SG hooked up and see where this one sits. Still thinking the cooling system was flawed in that other car, and was the reason it did so poorly.

Actually with the new update the shutters don't open until 210degrees at slow speeds and 215degrees at around 60+mph. So as you can see the shutters almost never open now. The problem is the shutters leak a lot of air. Yesterday with temps around 65degrees the highest temp I saw was 200degrees and operating temp range is 202-212degrees for the ICE. :)
