Ford online "Build Your Own" Site

Recommended Posts

Ok, the Job 2 Fusions are actualy being built now and Ford still has not updated their web site with the Late Availability options. How hard can it be? Last year for the 13 Job 2's the web site was updated about month BEFOR the job 2's were being built. Come on Ford web guys, get your :censored: together! :rant2:

I'm sure they'll get it updated in the next week or two. In the past it was reliably updated on the job start date, but lately it's been trailing it slightly. Right now you can't even see soft ceramic on dealer orders - they show as black until you click through to the sticker. I'm sure you are anxious to see what the soft ceramic interior looks like, as am I. I decided to wait until the end of December to order so there's no surprises.

Here's a '14 model with the grey soft ceramic interior. View the Dealer's slide show.

If you look at the '14 color matrix here, it shows the 'medium soft ceramic' as a sort of older Eddie Bauer tan interior.

There may be two ceramic colors, grey and tan, confusing.

If that car had the Soft Ceramic, it's almost as dark as the charcoal.

I think that interior color is marked wrong.. It looks like black to me. Just the back seats have the sun shining on them and they appear lighter. Also the window sticker says 08/05/13. So I would rule out that being the ceramic interior because they weren't even in production back then.

Thanks. Erik

I believe you're both correct, I didn't look at the window sticker, it says 'charcoal black'.

I've since read a couple places that describe that the medium ceramic is a tan color. That is what my second link shows.

Look here at the 'build' selection, this sort of confirms that it is tan:

I certainly hope it's not tan. A soft ceramic sounds more like an off white or Grayish, or it does to me at least. I would be disappointed if I ordered it and it ended up being tan.

Thanks Erik

I can live with Tan but I was expecting Grey. Both of my current vehicles have Tan leather, so I am pretty good with that, but still, Ceramic sounds like Grey to me. Now if Ford would just update its Website, there would be no confusion!

Ford specifically called soft ceramic light gray, so I'm confident the tan swatch that those sites posted is wrong. If Ford would ever post the brochure for the 2014 Fusion we would know. The dealerships are supposed to have print brochures now - it might be worth stopping in and asking for one.

I finally found an official Ford document that gives a color reference for Medium Soft Ceramic. It looks to be slightly lighter than Dune, still leaning more towards the warm tans rather than cool grays. If I had to base my decision solely on this swatch, I'd stick with Charcoal Black.

That color swatch is awful (actually most of them on that guide are) If you look at the colors that are close I.E. tux black and darkside/ruby red and sunset/oxford white and white platinum there is almost no difference. The samples are just too small. I do agree though that it looks more tan in that guide than grey.

I stopped by my Ford dealer today to discuss my potential order and take a closer look at the Fusion since it's been a few months since I drove one. They do have print brochures with a better color sample than what was shown online. I held the brochure up to the headliner in a charcoal Titanium and it looked like Medium Soft Ceramic was a pretty close match. It certainly looks more like a creamy gray than tan. It will be nice to see how it looks on a real car, although after today it's looking more like I'll be going MKZ.

the "Build and Price" site is down right now. Maybe they are updating it?

Edit: nope.

This is odd. I ordered a FFH Titanium with ceramic but page 27 says the FFH only comes in dune. My car is delivering in the next two weeks. We shall see...
