Dealer could not install Nav update

Recommended Posts

Just had my 2013 Fusion Hybrid in for the various updates/recalls and an oil change. Will be interesting to see if the mileage increases (I have been getting high 30s to mid 40s) over the 13,000 miles so far.

However, the dealer could not update the Nav system. Produced an error code. They tried to update another hybrid in inventory with the new SD card and that one failed too. Did not want to leave it at the dealer so just brought it home with the old Nav system. I rarely use the Nav anyway and this is on a two year lease ending in January 2015 so doubt I will go through the hassle of taking it back so they can figure it out unless I need to take it for something else.

Thought I would post this in case anyone else has had a problem with the Nav update.

Obviously the dealer doesn't know what they are doing if they can't install a simple update on two different cars! Find another dealer or just do it yourself. It's not difficult. :)

Just putting in a new SD card doesn't update the Nav system. Is that all they tried? The latest Nav update doesn't need a new SD card anyway.

The SD card version is tied to the MyFord Touch version. To install the A4 SD card, your car needs to be running MFT version 3.5 or later, and any older versions of card will no longer work. Are they updating your whole system or just trying to install the new card? I would think they'd know better.

Not every dealer knows what they are doing. We have proved it so many times on this forum that this is true. timf nailed it, MFT version needs to be at a certain level for the current nav card. The fact yours still works says they didn't update to 3.6

You did say it still works on the original card? Check if its A3, it will be on the label.
