ETA to get a VIN...?

Ok, I am just wanting to know how long it took others to get their VIN? I ordered the car Saturday 10/19 and was told about 4 weeks. I just want to ease my mind a little. My Capital One Blank Check expires Dec 1st, and I absolutely must have a VIN by then.. How long did it take you guys to get yours?

When I ordered my first HyTi Feb 2nd 13 it took me over 8 weeks to get my VIN. Just re-ordered on the 21st of Oct. Hoping for faster results this time. Watching the boards, I have seen any number of people get their VIN's in two to four weeks.

I am going to wait on any of my finacing until the car is built and in transit. That should give me two to four weeks until it's at the dealer lot.

It largely depends on how much allocation your dealer has and how many orders are ahead of yours. Orders are scheduled every Thursday, so if you check with your dealer Thursday afternoon or Friday they should be able to tell you if there is a VIN yet or not. If not, don't even bother checking for another week.

I ordered January 22, 2013 and received my VIN March 8, 2013.

Car was built April 1, 2013 and I drove it home April 15, 2013.

I ordered my SE hybrid in July and it was built about 4 1/2 weeks later so I probably could have gotten the VIN # then. I didn't check on it till the 8 week mark. It was scheduled for delivery in the 9th week but then slipped by two weeks so waiting for delivery was definitely the slowest part of the process.

Well I know that on Wednesday they said I couldn't change my order, so I assume that Thursday they submitted the order. I guess I will check with them next Thursday. Although I highly doubt they will have a VIN, but they may need a push. If I don't get a VIN by Dec 1st, I lose out on my car possibly and I don't want that to happen. I would have waited on financing, but I was taken by surprised to get approved and get a super low APR. So it was all kind of sudden.

Is the VIN the only thing you need for your financing to go through? If so, I would imagine you are probably in pretty good shape. My eight week wait for a VIN last time I ordered was not at all common. I still have no idea how come I got one so soon this time. The really good news is that if you have any late availability options that Ford is issuing VIN's now and not sitting on them until mid Nov. If you are getting a model year 14 with options that are already in production I would find it hard to believe that your car would not be in production before any of the cars with late availability options. The L.A. cars are not suppose to start being built until mid Nov. Yours could be built any time. (if no L.A. options)

What are the L.A. options? Yes, I just need a VIN for my finance company by Dec 1st. I know I ordered my 2014 with everything except Parking assist.

Actually all you need is your order number and dealer number to start the tracking.

Well contacted my salesperson and he provided me with a VIN today. There isn't a window sticker available for download yet. No big deal. Just wanted to make sure things were on track. So looking forward to be back in the Ford Family.

Don't flip out if you don't see it Monday, mine didn't show up until the Friday night before build week... but it only takes a few seconds to bookmark the URL and run a quick check each day... hope you see them soon.

I certainly hope I got mine the week before the build week. Because that would mean my car is being built next week!

 

The date on the bottom of my sticker is 10-13-13!

Hey let's hope that's the case! The build 'tends' to be about a week after that date but things to change... I found a couple VINs last year where that date was actually after the build date that showed in ETIS, not sure what happened with those...

Yeah it's exciting when you can first see it online, to double-check that every option listed is the same as what you ordered, that they have the exterior and interior colors correct, and all that. So now it's probably your ritual to check for it a couple times a day and then whoop there it is.

Ya, I made the "research maniacs, VIN lookup" my home page on my work computer. Figured if I am sitting here I might as well check it a few times per day. Now I made the other website (etis) as my home page.. Waiting can be so exhausting!
