Still love my Fusion!

I haven't been around much, but was finally able to get the software upgrade and latest round of recall repairs taken care of. I have to say that I've stopped worrying much about mileage and have just settled in to enjoying this car. There's a lot to enjoy! Still feel that, for the money spent, there is nothing out there that comes close. Style-wise I'm noticing that other manufacturers are responding to the Fusion by bringing out racier versions of their mid-size sedans, which is kind of cool because I really think that Ford, with this Fusion, has driven the market in a very competitive way.

 

Now that I have had the car for several months, there are several features that I didn't think I wanted, but that I wouldn't now be without. In no particular order:

 

Navigation: This was not on the car I ordered, but was on the car I ended up buying. I love it so much that I don't know if I could ever buy another car that doesn't have it. So nice to not worry about directions any more.

 

Adaptive Cruise Control: I sort of thought I wanted this, but I am surprised at how much I use it. I use it all the time, even in light traffic on surface streets.

 

Blind Spot Indicators: The visibility on this car really blows the old Prius out of the water, but the blind spot indicators are a valuable plus. How did I ever live without these?

 

Anyway, it's nice to see everyone. I hope all is well, and that everyone is getting the most out of their car. I remember when we were all so patiently waiting to get ours. The recalls and so forth are the cost of early adoption, but I would not trade my Fusion and I'm really happy I have this car.

Hi elle nice to hear from you and that you and your FFH are doing well. I have to say every time I read or post something in the "Happy MPG talk" I smile about the beginnings of this thread and think about why you started it.

 

Temps are dropping fast around here and the MPG # are following very closely. Just like you said the FFH is way to nice of a car overall to worry about FE too much that takes away from the fun.

I love driving mine. Between the tech and the quiet ride (in EV mode), I just love it.

This is the only area I don't know whether or not I agree with you - I am so accustomed to using a portable GPS that I don't know if I would like it integrated into the dashboard. Plus, I always take the portable GPS to rental cars. But I guess if I had the Nav in my car, I'd end up getting used to it as well.

Hi Elle! Glad you are enjoying the car. I love mine, and am at the point where I just drive it, enjoy it, and if it only gets 40 MPG on a trip, I'm like, oh darn. :) My only complaint, wish this was my FIRST 13 FFH! LOL

Even though I have the built in NAV, I still dont trust it, and take a TomTom with on trips. For local drives in well documented areas like Chicago and burbs I have no issues using it, its the cross country ones that I like to have a back up to,

 

 

Especially when the car nav sends you to a ferry crossing without telling you! :)

LOL, well I have never had a Garmin or Tom Tom so this is the only navigation I've ever used. So far it has not tried to send me off the edge of a cliff, but you never know!
