The FFH is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+

I knew that the Fusion is a Top Safety Pick + from the IIHS but just noticed today that this designation only applies to cars built after December 2012...our car was built on 11/29/12. Does anyone know what changed from the earliest cars to ones built after December 2012?

 

Below are links to the IIHS results. They say that vehicles built after December 2012 had "structural changes". Did anyone ever see any press releases about these changes explaining what was changed?

I'd really like to know what these "structural changes" were to understand what is deficient in our early build FFH.

I have not heard anything about this. Maybe our Ford engineer Alpha754293 could shed some light on it?

You'll notice the IIHS tested the FF SE, not the FFH.

I just realized today that our new car was built long after December 2012 and thus has whatever improvements the IIHS referenced when saying that cars built after December 2012 are a Top Safety Pick+ while our early build black FFH is not.
