hybridbear Report post Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) I knew that the Fusion is a Top Safety Pick + from the IIHS but just noticed today that this designation only applies to cars built after December 2012...our car was built on 11/29/12. Does anyone know what changed from the earliest cars to ones built after December 2012? Below are links to the IIHS results. They say that vehicles built after December 2012 had "structural changes". Did anyone ever see any press releases about these changes explaining what was changed?Detailed test results print view: http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/ford/fusion?print-viewFord Fusion page: http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/ford/fusion I'd really like to know what these "structural changes" were to understand what is deficient in our early build FFH. DeeCee Report post Posted October 22, 2013 I have not heard anything about this. Maybe our Ford engineer Alpha754293 could shed some light on it?
lolder Report post Posted October 22, 2013 You'll notice the IIHS tested the FF SE, not the FFH.
hybridbear Report post Posted January 23, 2014 I just realized today that our new car was built long after December 2012 and thus has whatever improvements the IIHS referenced when saying that cars built after December 2012 are a Top Safety Pick+ while our early build black FFH is not.
