gvogelge Report post Posted September 27, 2013 (edited) Hello all- I've been reading through some of the threads here and decided to become a member of the forum. I love my FFH, and have been a little disappointed with the mpg. I had the 13B07 upgrade, but I'm not sure if it totally took. I average about 36 mpg, but do most of my driving - about 75% on the highway at speeds between 70-73 (NorCal drivers go fast!). The sales rep said that the car would take about 10k miles to really break in, but I'm at 6k right now and haven't seen any changes. Is is possible for the upgrade to only partially take? I do get into EV mode only on downhill portions over 70 mpg, and it drops out as soon as the road flattens out. Also, I probably haven't been driving the way I should - at least according to the other threads - should I do the battery disconnect so the the car can adapt to a better driving style? Finally, has anyone had an issue with the plastic piece above the passenger side visor falling out? That happened really early on and I need to remember to have the dealer fix it. I look forward to being a member of this community and learning how to drive more efficiently. I'm jealous of all of you getting over 40mpg - I've yet to see it on my car, even around town:( btw, we've had the car since June. djminfll Report post Posted September 27, 2013 I am far from the mechanical expert on this forum, but I can tell you that the software update either takes or doesn't take, it doesn't partially succeed. It is just like when you update software on your computer - if you interrupt it before it's done, you have to start it all over if you want the update to be done, and if you don't do it completely, none of the the changes will have taken place. If you bring the car back to the mechanic, when they attach your vehicle to the computer, it will either allow them to start the update, or it will advise that the update is already done. I would contact the Ford dealer and ask them to check it for you.As for the mpg, have you tried highway driving of under 70mph? You should do better at those speeds that >70mph. But then again, if you aren't getting 40mpg around town, it sounds like something is wrong. Are you doing around town trips of more than 5-10 miles? And when you shut off the car, does the individual trip indicate that your mpg is under 40?

I found turning my AC temp UP to 74F helped a lot and I had had it set on MAX AC just turning the fan speed down when the car cooled off.I now frequently get in the 50s some legs and high 30s on others. My combi mpg is now 40.9 mpg. When I get my third fill up I will know better. Edited September 27, 2013 by Skydogz
Nick P Report post Posted October 1, 2013 If your car goes into EV mode downhill at 70 MPH then the upgrade was done. If it wasn't you would never go into EV above 62-63 MPH. Also at 70 - 75 you will not get maximum mileage. I've found that highway mileage is best below 63 MPH or so. It definitely drops off quickly above 65. You do need to learn how to drive a hybrid to maximize the benefits. It is very different than a regular car. That said, if you want to drive like you always have before you'll still get great mileage, just not as high as driving "hybrid-style". I've had my FFH SE since March of this year and have just shy of 11,000 miles and my lifetime mileage is at 51.5 MPG. But I don't drive at all like I did in my previous 2 cars (a Mercedes CLS and a Jaguar X-Type). But I get rewarded every time I don't have to stop for gas. My fuel bill went from about $280/month to about $70-$80/month. I'll take that any day. Bottom line: enjoy your Fusion no matter how you drive it. It's just a great car. 3 DeeCee, corncobs and Da0ne reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted October 2, 2013 There is a thread about resetting the HVB, go look for it and read the details on how it was done and what you need to do after the Hard reset to train your car. It is a most helpful thread.

I have a question about this, and I'll search the other threads, but where we live, it is usually between 65- 72 degrees, so turning the temp to 74 ends up blowing heat at us. Is there a way just to open the vents to get outside air in? I've tried the circulation setting, but that still goes off of the set temp. As for the software update, they did it again and it actually ran the program (they told me that usually it won't run if the program has already been applied), but I didn't see a change for my lifetime regen miles or my EV+. But, I am getting a little higher average mpgs - more like 39 and 40, which is better than the 36 I was getting before. Only time will tell...
