2014 hybrid mpg

Recommended Posts

Didn't see anything in google anywhere so I am curious to hear from people who have purchased 2014 models of the hybrid and if all their avg mpg are high or still a few low ones.

Since there are no drive-line changes between the 13 and 14 models, expect them to be the same MPG-wise. There are always going to be those that get low numbers because they are lead foots and don't know how to drive a hybrid. Then there are those that are calm, cool headed, feather-footed (is that a real term? ;) ) tortoises that get outstanding numbers. I fall somewhere in-between those types of drivers, so I am not complaining about my 37 MPG average. Yet. :)

Ours is not that great, but it only has 1500 or so miles on it. My wife just drove home last night from Oshkosh WI (to Chicago suburbs). No AC. Eco Cruise set at 74. 190 miles. She averaged about 37.8mpg. I don't know how some people on this forum get the great mileage numbers that they do.

Nobody does driving at 74. If you drive at 70 you should get 41 or 42 in my experience.

Yeah, it's just that you get run over around here if you go much slower. It's kind of depressing because I got 40+ mpg in my '13 Focus on essentially the same route, at essentially the same speed.

That's a problem that everybody else has to manage for himself but on my daily commute I drive down 290 and 355 and my ECC set 65 MPH. So far I have not been run over but I'm also not blocking the left. Every day I get a kick out of watching all these morons trying to find a hole to get one car ahead and drive 2 MPH faster for 10 sec.

I'm so much more relaxed driving to work and I don't really care about the others.

Watch out for silver suburbans with handicap plates. That joker loves cutting people off. I watched a near wreck occur because of that person.

I made the mistake of taking I90 from route 20 towards the city the other day. I forgot 100% construction through there @45 MPH. With speed cameras setup who knows where, I sure cant afford a $375 ticket, so stuck with doing 45. Took the Flex though, so MPG didnt matter, but once I got past it and could go with the flow, I was seeing 25 MPG. :)

but do you get 45 mpg in the city?

Yes. I drove it some around town last night and got almost 46.
