Have you seen this before ?

Recommended Posts

I was just checking Tire Mobility kit in the trunk under the trunk mat & found black & brown patch on each side (screenshot below). I'm taking my car to the dealership this eve to find out what it is.

Have anyone seen this on their fusion hybrids ?

Trunk

Trunk.

Thanks

No idea what that is. Maybe the carpet was supposed to cover that area. I don't remember seeing that in mine, but it might look like that. I'll take a look.

Yep, same in mine.

wow, that's really odd. I wonder what that might be for. Did you get something done after from your dealer .. say any protector shield covering, rust proof job etc ..?

Can you click some pics & post it ?

Trunk in the garage is too dark for a pic to come out, but mine has the same thing, seems normal.

That is normal. I think it is the way they waterproof the metal to metal joints and any holes that were required for assembly. Every car I have ever owned has had something similar.

I saw it first day. Always just thought it was a caulk of some type, just to seal up gaps that may have been there.

Seam Sealer. If you pull the carpet out, you will most likely see more at various locations.

Thanks all. My dealer's service guy told me something similar that it is from the factory.

It's seam sealant. Why it's in the area I don't know. I've seen it in some of my other fords.
