Latest Fusion Commercial

Just saw the latest for the 2014 Fusion Hybrid. I LMAO!

 

Anyhow, they are now doing the RIGHT thing. Targeting the Prius V with a real challenger. The Fusion is a MUCH nicer car than any Prius, and get better gas mileage.

 

 

But the commercial with the little bigshot reminded me of someone I know.

I was going to comment on the latest commercial as well because I don't quite get why they target the Prius V with the FFH.

 

They aren't even in the same ballpark in terms of target customers in my opinion.

 

Btw if you haven't noticed acdii was finially able to write "Prius" again LOL

I think Ford has dropped the ball on all their advertising for the new Fusion. I wish they had done one like VW's Jetta Hybrid commercial. This lastest one for the FFH ends with a long shot of the car driving away from the camera. This is the least flatering view of the Fusion, which makes it look like most other sedans. I don't see this ad adding to Ford's hybrid sales.

I agree that this is an awful commercial. Ford needs to stop advertising fuel economy and just focus on all the ways that the hybrid is better than buying a gas only car. This marketing approach will only bring in buyers who were already looking at another hybrid. If they instead talk about how the Fusion Hybrid is better than a gas car in general then they'll sell a lot more. How are they so stupid?? :confused: :headscratch: Oh wait, Ford also said that their engineers were too dumb to know that the C-Max with its higher coefficient of drag would get worse gas mileage than the FFH. So I guess Ford is pretty dumb... :banghead: :club: :chairshot:

I found the ad to be stupid and a rip off of other ads I've seen this past summer. Totally missed opportunity.

I think its really unprofessional to state your competitors name directly like that in your commercials..its like you are comparing your self to them while you have the upper hand of a better product..again like making them appear to be the standard bar and you are trying to be as them or leaping above them...ford has really good cars and good techs that's (recently) for me ..

They're just trying to create a brand rivalry like Mac vs PC or iPhone vs Android. Nothing helps word of mouth sales like a bunch of fanboys out their singing your praises to everyone who will listen.

What I don't get is why they are comparing the FFH to the Prius, rather than the Camry Hybrid? The Camry is the true competitor to the Fusion, and even at reduced "real world" fuel economy, the Fusion still does better than the Camry. This commercial compares a higher end car to a lower end car. What they did here would be like BMW putting out a commercial comparing itself to the Honda Accord.

I thought the Ad's storyline was in poor taste and hard to understand, the car photography was mundane, with nothing special to tag the car to one's mind.

 

A short shot of the twin engines under the hood, some closeups of the better angles of the car body with Ken Burns effects, the interior with ambient lights, etc.

Even using more of 'green' aspect of the FFH would help identify the car to an ecology minded person, show the dash display leaves if they have to.

Ford must do better than that to get people interested in purchasing a FFH.

I agree, I was never a fan of the look of the Prius. When it first came out, it was like having to choose between style and function. My wife hates the look of the Prius. The FFH doesn't make the same extreme compromise between style and function. I'm sure the FFH could be more aerodynamic if the front were lower, but then the same car couldn't be sold in Europe.

The link worked for me, and I don't think it is an awful spot, just too short and no real content. A lot better than those flying ones of earlier this year. Those make no sense. Typical unrealistic commercial showing things that can't/won't happen. There's a reason marketing folks are called weasels by the way!

When the car was first release Ford published that the long hood was part of the worldwide design. Europe has more stringent pedestrian crash standards. The long hood allows the FFH body to be sold in Europe with minimal changes.

how does a Long hood help with pedestrian crashes? I was more concerned with the height of the nose and how blocky it seems...Large opening for grill also........(I realize it has shutters to help with that ). but overall...just doesnt look aerodynamic at the front. .
