Geremy13 Report post Posted August 21, 2013 "Vehicle Not In Park"???? Message on Dash OK,,, I have a question. I am into 1 month owning the car and have 2000 miles on it now. So... just in the last day or two. When I get into the car and back it out of the garage... it reports to me "Vehicle Not In Park"... Well of course ,,, I am driving it.... So I clear the message with the "OK"... and then maybe pull forward abit and it still reports "Vehicle Not In Park"???? As I back up out of the driveway it reminds me again "Vehicle Not In Park"???? Seems to go away as I drive off to work.... does anyone know what this means? Never seen it before until the last 2 days........
djminfll Report post Posted August 21, 2013 Usually the "Vehicle Not In Park" message is meant to show if you try to turn off the engine when you are in D or R. That is when I have gotten the message in the past, never when I am backing up, or backing out of the garage.
TX NRG Report post Posted August 21, 2013 I think if you have the memory seats programmed and press one of the buttons, or have your fob set to trigger a memory seat setting, and you are not in Park then you might get this message since the memory seat is not supposed to move while the vehicle is. Are you getting in, starting up and shifting into gear quickly? Maybe there is a lag in recognizing your fob (low 12V battery?) and seat setting until after you are already in motion? Are there other processes, like adjusting something on the NAV screen maybe, which are only allowed to be done while in Park? It could be related to one of those or a bad sensor reading from them. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
murphy Report post Posted August 21, 2013 Do you have a video source connected to the yellow jack in the console? That is only allowed while in Park. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
GrySql Report post Posted August 21, 2013 Maybe when you used hermans' ex for the "Does my car stop by itself?" test the software got confused. Try the test again and see if it resets. 1 Geremy13 reacted to this
Geremy13 Report post Posted August 22, 2013 Thank you so much for everybody's input. Yes, I will pay attention to the factors involved 'before' this message appears.... I don't know... but I will pay close attention to the 'befores' now so I can figure this out. Apreciate everyones help,,, thank you.
