greycrx87 Report post Posted August 15, 2013 The car started acting up in the recent days, a few days after my update was installed. The issue is that various times the car will not switch to EV, even tough I'm going downhill and the battery is fully charged. Also, when it switches to EV the middle screen LCD still shows the engine is running. I did not have any of these prior to the patch, definitely worrisome, I will be going to the dealer with these issues Anybody experience similar problems. hybridbear Report post Posted August 16, 2013 That is distressing. Please let us know what you find out from the dealer.
johnnyu Report post Posted August 26, 2013 Thanks for your posting greycrx87 - I too have been having a similar issue with mine. Initially I was super-excited to get my car in for the 13B07 Update and it appears it did more damage than good. I was running about 42 mpg up until the upgrade and now I"m running in the low 30's. Immediately I recognized the problem and notified Ford of the decreased efficiency and was told by the service professional to give it a full week before checking back. I have now waited the entire week and it's slipping worse. I too have had problems with is going into EV mode at times when it used to go into EV prior to the upgrade. We've had extreme heat since the adjustment so I really think I ought to wait until it cools off a bit since I don't know if that's the culprit. I'm about to make my call again to Ford to relay the info that my MPG has decreased by 20% from their "Upgrade," but may give it another week or so. I sure wish I had the other peoples' results as they seem quite pleased but for whatever reason, my car didn't take the upgrade properly and I would've been about as well off buying the gas version as it now stands.. No idea how this will be resolved but you can bet I will fight to have it returned to normal or have them re-do their update to see if it can be rectified that way. Please let me know if you've made any progress on this....I feel your frustration..
halfelite Report post Posted August 27, 2013 (edited) I am in the same boat. Im also giving mine a week. I was usually at around 41.9mpg for a tank now im down at 38mpg as of right now. I noticed some odd things Like I would first turn the car on and it would start using gas right when the key was turned this was new as it always started in EV before this. For the past day though it has been starting in EV like normal. For the first couple of days My commute to work was amazing getting close to 85-90mpg over my usual 70-79mpg. But I noticed on the way home I would usually use 0.4 gallons and now im using 0.6 gallons for the same trip after the update. I think some of my issue is I can stay in EV mode almost all the way to work but the last 5 miles of freeway going 70mpg in EV drains the battery so on my way home its pretty much all gas all the time Edited August 27, 2013 by halfelite
francyb Report post Posted August 27, 2013 I had mine calibrated on 8/8. I didn't notice any difference, but thought I would give it a week. I dropped from 38.9 to 38.6 mpg. I was hoping for an improvement. I took it out on the freeway and noticed that nothing had changed. As soon as I hit 62, here comes the gas. I noticed that the explanation on the screen shows reason for gas to be on was "high speed". I thought it wasn't supposed to be considered high speed until 85 mph...not 62. Back it goes. sys Report post Posted August 28, 2013 I've had mine done and redone. NO GOOD! I am unable to stay in EV mode as I had been able to do before. I bring my car up to 65, back off to get in EV mode, set cruise control, and it immediately goes back to engine mode. This is on a PERFECTALY FLAT ROAD. The reason my car says it's in engine mode is due to acceleration. Really??! With cruise control on?? The only way I can stay in EV mode is going downhill. And my lifetime average mpg is heading south. Unfortunately, the dealership personnel told me there is no way to "undo" the update. Sorry, Ford, not gonna accept that. Ford will find a way to fix their damage or take the car back.
jeff_h Report post Posted August 28, 2013 I bring my car up to 65, back off to get in EV mode, set cruise control, and it immediately goes back to engine mode. This cannot be compared to the past behavior since it was previously not able to go EV at that speed, right? Is the same behavior exhibited in EV at 62 MPH now, as experienced before the update? 3 MPH doesn't sound like a lot I know, but for a more direct before/after comparison shouldn't the same speed be compared? sys Report post Posted August 28, 2013 Yes, even if I'm going 55/60, the car won't stay in EV mode as it was able to do before.
sys Report post Posted August 31, 2013 I took my car around town today. Got an impressive 26 mpg (sarcasm)!! I've contacted Ford to see about them taking back my car, or finding a way to repair the damage that was done with the 13B07 update.

acdii Report post Posted September 5, 2013 You could try a hard reset, GrySql did one and saw an improvement. Behind the right rear passenger seat is the battery disconnect, and on the left in the trunk is the 12 V battery compartment. Disconnect both and let it sit for 15 minutes, then reconnect both and see if it helps.
B25Nut Report post Posted September 5, 2013 Both DrewFM and GrySq disconnected the batteries for about 5 minutes.
terryb Report post Posted September 6, 2013 My HVB disconnect is behind my left hand 60% leather seatback. I was about ready to give up un the fix cause I couldn't see it behind the right side.

I have seen no huge gains but I am back to the MPG I was at before the update
jamesk33 Report post Posted September 6, 2013 I had something very similiar to this happen to my car when i got it updated. It turns out the person at the dealer failed to do it correctly. there are apparently 3 modules that needed to be updated. I only had 1 of the 3 updated. Perhaps this might be it. Not to sure though. djminfll Report post Posted September 6, 2013 For anyone who has seen a deterioration since the update, how long did the update take? I have seen some people posting that the dealer had them in and out in under 30 minutes, but my dealer said it took about 2 to 2.5 hours to complete. So if yours was done faster, that might be why your performance is subpar. I'm just guessing that this could be at least a contributing factor. 1 B25Nut reacted to this
