jeff_h Report post Posted June 23, 2015 Just did the renewal dance once again, called them for my car that was renewing tomorrow, told them no I would rather cancel than to renew at the regular rates, but would go for another 6-month subscription of they wanted to do that. Lady said no sorry that rate is not available anymore, but if I wanted to go month-by-month the cost would be $14.99 per month, I said no thanks. She then said OK sorry to see you go, let me xfer you to the department that handles the closeout... I was surprised that I didn't get the normal song & dance. Then the next operator comes on and asks why I was cancelling, I said regular rates too high, she said well we have annual plan for $89 if I wanted that instead (OK we are now back on script, was thinking it was really "over" this time) for total cost with taxes and fees of $105... I said no thanks that's still too high, I saw an offer on TV of $5 per month -- she said OK we have special of 5 months for $25, I said OK go ahead and do that, total cost with taxes and fees $30. So now I have my outlook reminder for 3 days shy of '5' months instead of '6' months.... 2 GrySql and hybridbear reacted to this
GrySql Report post Posted June 23, 2015 (edited) So now I have my outlook reminder for 3 days shy of '5' months instead of '6' months....You are the King of Sirius! :) You've been doing this a long time. murphy Report post Posted June 23, 2015 I have a radio that has been unsubscribed for about 5 years. The last offer in the mail, a couple of days ago, was 5 months for $20. That is the lowest offer I have ever received. 3 hybridbear, jeff_h and Sleddog reacted to this
Sleddog Report post Posted June 23, 2015 Just did that offer today.... I'll probably let it expire again once it's over.
Fastronaut Report post Posted June 24, 2015 It's still just to get you back. I wouldn't expect anything like this when the 5 months expire.

Sleddog Report post Posted June 25, 2015 That's OK, the price was right. And after 1 day of listening to it, I remember why stopped renewing it and went to Pandora. I can hear the same music going to work and coming home.... Just like my local radio stations.
Hybrider Report post Posted June 25, 2015 (edited) .... I can hear the same music going to work and coming home.... Just like my local radio stations. Sirius does that intentionally, that is playing the same songs in a daily rotating list, for a certain period of time. One reason is that most people want to hear the hits they are familiar with, and two, hearing the same songs repeatedly gives listeners that comfortable, familiar feeling, just like you said, so it is more similar to how the radio stations have always done it with their playlists consisting pretty much of just the current hit songs. I can hear the same music going to work and coming home.... Just like my local radio stations. We had Sirius during our Cali road trip in winter and we heard the same songs every few hours on a rotation. Sirius also has very few hours of new programming each day. Mostly they just replay the same few DJ shows over and over again. 1 Sleddog reacted to this
Sleddog Report post Posted June 25, 2015 (edited) I listen to Chill and Spa. That's 99% of what I listen to. I can build a better set of stations on Pandora. I've listened to a lot of this type of music and with the amount of artist available they still repeat stuff. They don't even play more of the main stream artist like Phutureprimitive, Blackmill, Solar Fields, Hybrid or Leftfield. They do hit Blank and Jones, M7 and Lemon Jelly once in a while. The rest is a lot of house artists and groups that don't get a lot of play outside the clubs. The average playlist for a rock station is about 350 songs in continual rotation. Sirius has access to much more than that number. But they still repeat the same songs in a rotation. So when the subscription ends, no more renewing. Pandora, Digitally Imported Radio, iHeart cost me nothing to stream in the car. About the only thing I would be interested in Sirius Travel and Travel link. md13ffhguy Report post Posted June 26, 2015 Pandora, Digitally Imported Radio, iHeart cost me nothing to stream in the car. About the only thing I would be interested in Sirius Travel and Travel link.I'm a fan of Slacker. I find it has a little more variety than Pandora. YMMV. Wouldn't it be nice to have these apps built into MFT...? I wish it was easier/cheaper to just get the traffic info from Sirius, but I realize that's not their core business. In the end, Google and Waze traffic info is much better anyhow, particularly about rerouting.
md13ffhguy Report post Posted June 26, 2015 I often wonder what benefit I'm even getting out of MFT, except the screen does look cool... I've become almost totally disinterested in Sirius. I actually like Alt Nation, but I'm not going to pay for one station, even at a discounted promo rate.
thrasher086 Report post Posted September 14, 2015 My 6 months promo rate was up the beginning of the month so I made a call. I asked to continue what I currently have which is $24.99 for 6 months of Sirius Select and the TravelLink with Traffic that was 50% off for $18. They had no issue with the 6 months of Sirius Select. They said they could not do the TravelLink and Traffic promo. I told them I will not get it then. I took a look at my account and I could see they added the promo and then removed it so it looked like it was an option but the rep didn't want to do it. I called a week later (it was a free Sirius week) and the rep once again said they couldn't add it even though I stated it was on my account and removed. I decided to give one last shot before I sucked it up. I tried the online live chat and without an issue, they said they spoke to their manager and will add it with the promotion price of 50% off. So looks like I am good for another 6 months. Hopefully since this was my 2nd time getting promo rates that it may be easier since I got the speech of "I only received that rate due to it was my first time as a subscriber". I read people were having trouble with getting a TravelLink and Traffic promotion and I can see why. I am jealous of the 2015+ MY's since you guys get 5 years of that.
