hybridbear Report post Posted June 24, 2014 I have a TravelLink question. When your 6-month free trial expired was TravelLink also turned off? In the white FFH this happened, but my parents' C-Max is over a year old & it has been more than 6 months since their free trial ended but they still have access to all the TravelLink services. Only their radio connection was turned off when the trial ended. I'm wondering what others have experienced.

As expected, by 6-month radio was off this morning... however the traffic is still working, but I bet that also disappears in a day or two. However I think the travelink may have changed and now be good for 5 years, based on looking at my Sirius account for the other car. 1 hybridbear reacted to this

rjent Report post Posted June 24, 2014 I lost my travel link when we lost the radio. we renewed about 6 months ago for a minimal price (everything as original including travel link) I think about 15 dollars. It now died again, and I am waiting for a cheap renewal notice. I can live without it in reality. The fuel prices were nice, but gas buddy on my phone is more accurate anyway. This has been an interesting thread. I hope a super deal comes by mail, but I am not holding my breath ...

In fact, they all turned off right about the time I got the call trying to get me to renew. I had been driving about 10 minutes before that phone call and was listening to Sirius. Then I got in the car about 5 minutes after the phone call and Sirius radio & TravelLink no longer worked. What makes you think it might now be good for 5 years? All of my subscriptions have expired except for audio which I paid for from their 5 month special deal. So, to clarify, when your 6-month free trial ended you lost both the radio channels & TravelLink? And then when you bought the 5 month renewal for $20 you got the radio channels back but TravelLink is still off in your car?

One time since then TravelLink came back on for a two week demo period and then went away again when I ignored the email to subscribe. Four or five times a year there is a two week period where inactive radios will work for audio. They usually send me an email when the period starts because I have an inactive XM radio in my account. acdii Report post Posted June 24, 2014 Whats funny is the gas station I use is not listed on Travel link in either the first 13 Fusion, the Flex, nor the second 13 FFH, but was listed in the 2010 FFH. Hence I didn't bother renewing it since it was virtually useless to me.

Would you be kind enough to post in this thread when those trial periods are so that everyone can take advantage of them?

jeff_h Report post Posted June 24, 2014 What makes you think it might now be good for 5 years? Gee Wally, don't ya believe me? Below is why I think it's good for 5 years (this is for her car).... and as noted above, my radio subscription was expired/inop this morning but traffic still working. Came out for the drive home and found traffic was also kaput, but checked travelink for weather and gas prices and it was OK. 1 hybridbear reacted to this

I did some googling and found the info below stating that Sirius TravelLink will be free for 5 years starting with MY2015 vehicles.http://www.siriusxmdealer.com/dealer-resources/fordhttp://seekingalpha.com/article/2281023-sirius-xm-connects-with-fordIt appears that vehicles older than MY2015 are supposed to have TravelLink only for 6 months for free and that any additional TravelLink time is by error on the part of Sirius. jeff_h Report post Posted June 24, 2014 (edited) It appears that vehicles older than MY2015 are supposed to have TravelLink only for 6 months for free and that any additional TravelLink time is by error on the part of Sirius. Could be - we got the car in April 2013 and never got any notices from Sirius until September 2013 saying due to an oversight in recording/record-keeping/whatever, the start date of the trial was not established so they established it as Sep 18th with trial expiration of Mar 18 2014... so we let it expire for 10 days then renewed for 6 months, so the music subscription started on Sep 28th, and the travelink 5-years started on the day that the established 6-months expired Sep 18th. Whether that model was supposed to get it or not who knows, but it wouldn't be the first snafu for that car's subscription (which gave me 5 months Apr-Sep 2013 for free). ADDED - just renewed for another 6 months via chat (with letter of 6 months for $30 that I posted earlier in this thread), and my online account now shows this car also with 5-year complimentary Travelink, which I don't even care about. Sirius Traffic (which I use constantly every day) was $3.99 per month + tax. Edited June 25, 2014 by jeff_h 1 hybridbear reacted to this

arob Report post Posted July 2, 2014 I got the deal last year when 6 month trial expired. Required my CC to get the deal, and it "renewed" at the full price. Unfortunately, with no competition, you either go without or eventually pay the piper. Would be nice if they would just lower the price so inducements were not necessary. They are almost as bad as cable/satellite TV, phone, and Internet services. pull you in with a teaser then raise your rates.

You can do this every 6 months and not lose your subscription. 2 GrySql and Sleddog reacted to this
hybridbear Report post Posted July 3, 2014 I finally found out why the Energi that Jeff has still has TravelLink and why my parents' Energi does too. Ford pays for 5 years of TravelLink with new Energi & Focus Electric vehicles. And it sounds like starting in 2015 Ford is planning to make the 5 year TravelLink subscription standard on all cars they sell with Nav. MFT vehicles without Nav will not get 5 years of TravelLink based on what I read. I will try to search for that press release again and post it. 3 jeff_h, Sleddog and GrySql reacted to this

Hybrider Report post Posted August 26, 2014 I just managed to wrangle the 6 mo. for $25 plan via a 10-minute call to their cancellation line and by saying the magic words. And my trial plan doesn't even expire until tomorrow, so I won't have to go without my Sirius tunes at all. Of course, they signed me up for the auto-renew at the regular price after the 6 months special-priced subscription expires. But as others mentioned before, I have put a reminder on my calendar to remind me to call them again before the 6 months expires. 1 jeff_h reacted to this

You don't HAVE to do that to get the deal.I've had Sirius/XM on several vehicles over about 5 years now and have never had automatic renewal.

Easy Rider Report post Posted August 27, 2014 And what part of that exactly pertains to the present discussion......about automatic renewal ? The fact remains that you can specifically ask to NOT have the automatic plan and they will send you an invoice at renewal time.At least they have done that for me for a LONG time. No reason to suspect that it is not an available option for anyone who asks.
