djminfll Report post Posted August 5, 2013 In prior threads regarding Sirius radio, some forum members stated they don't use Sirius, they stream Pandora. I use Pandora when I am on my computer at home or in the office, streaming off their Wi-Fi connections. I haven't been using it in the car because my cell phone plan has a 5GB limit. Is there a setting, either in the car, or possibly through the phone (I have an iPhone 5) that allows me to stream via Wi-Fi instead of using data? acdii Report post Posted August 5, 2013 You would have to have the phone connected to WIFI for it to stream over that instead of the carrier. When I am not on the road my iphone uses the Wifi for streaming.
djminfll Report post Posted August 5, 2013 Do you know how I would adjust the settings so I can stream over Wi-Fi? Is this a setting in the car, or the phone? I went into my phone's settings and went to Wi-Fi, but no networks appeared.
neod192 Report post Posted August 5, 2013 How do you expect to have a Wi-Fi data connection when you're on the road? If the phone is connected to Wi-Fi, it will stream over Wi-Fi, but if it's not connected to Wi-Fi it'll use the data plan. In the phone's settings you can search for and connect to Wi-Fi networks. My phone connects to Wi-Fi by itself when I'm home or a place I've connected ti Wi-Fi before (parents / friends house, etc).
corncobs Report post Posted August 5, 2013 You would need to set up a WiFi hotspot in your car but that would require that phone is used as the Internet connection for your car kinda like a modem!I would just guess that this is not want you want correct? You would need to get a wireless Internet card which would plug in to the USB and this hotspot could be used by your phone and by the car. I would think that's an expensive solution. Depending on your Pandora account streaming uses between 1.1GB and 1.78GB if you would listen 1 hour a day for 20 days while commuting. There are a couple websites on this topic. 1 djminfll reacted to this

Since I know Sync services can retrieve text messages from certain phones, I thought perhaps it might be possible. I guess I'll just stick with the music on my phone and iPod b/c I don't want to run the risk of getting charged additional fees on my AT&T bill - it's already more than I want to pay! Gigi Report post Posted January 11, 2014 Unlimited data plan is the best answer.
acdii Report post Posted January 14, 2014 I broke my old iphone and so went my unlimited data. I now have a 4 Gb plan and have used less than a gig this month.
LASooner Report post Posted January 16, 2014 I buy off contract just to keep my unlimited data plan. Bandwidth caps are criminal, the congestion excuse has been dis-proven many times. The cloud concept is never going to work until caps are lifted.
