rjent Report post Posted July 20, 2013 (edited) Well I have my first road trip under our belts. Just short of 2000 miles. I left the trip one untouched until we got back home. Parts of our trip were fabulous, part were very depressing. Mileage to Tempe through the mountains of New Mexico and Arizona was amazing. Even though it is hilly and mountainous, with full battery downhill not charging OMG breaking LOL, it still got 44+ MPG, after arriving in Tempe AZ, our first night, the mileage was horrible. Head winds, desert heat with AC running full blast, never saw over 39 MPG untill we got to Big Bear Lake in California. Once we got that, the car was pretty efficient. Total trip was over 40 so I am pleased with that. Different time of year, it would have probably been 4 or 5 MPG better. The car .... may what can I say, drive all day and you are still relaxed and not tired. It is a joy to drive on long distance runs. The sound system, climate, just amazing. Ipod (Jeopardy wait music playing...)None of the Above. :) I have hours of George Strait, Nelson, Campbell, my own sax stuff, Emmy Lou Harris, Ray Price, (I know, I am dating myself :)), Dave and Sugar, etc etc, on a thumbdrive that I leave in the car.... The Ti surround sound is simply amazing. djminfll Report post Posted July 21, 2013 I believe it works in conjunction with the Lane Departure system. If you are driving, even a little erratically, a warning light comes up on the left dash screen with a picture of a cup of coffee with the suggestion that you need to make a rest stop and get some coffee. Mine has happened only a couple of times, and I don't believe I was weaving or swerving at all, but the system said I was. I would think it would work better on a long roadtrip like rjent took rather than on a daily commute. It comes on too often and for no reason in my opinion. I also like the back roads, the old US highways and byways. Much better scenery, more suited to the hybrid style of operation and much easier to drive because of lack of traffic, and you many times save a lot of miles by using them. Anyway the older roads aren't as smooth as the Interstates, you are running as slower speeds and the car reacts to bumps and rolls in the pavement, so the nag (that is what I call her) keeps poping up. I find it annoying :)...... but at my age most things are annoying ... LOL Yeah, great driving car. I can drive it forever seemingly. EDIT, our last leg was just under 500 miles. If you look at the picture you will see just over 500 miles of EV running. That means that the last leg, effectively, was free .... pretty amazing.....
