That's great use of existing technology and just the kind of out-of-the-box thinking a company needs to keep moving forward. Congrats Ford!

 

PS. I find this useful when I back out of packing lots. I usually see cars coming, but it's harder to see people, especially kids!

Just think if Ford had gone and redesigned the most favored police car to todays tech and standards. I wonder what a Vic would look like.

There were no Crown Vics in my LE days. We did have some LTDs with 460 motors along with some Dodge 440s.

Wow, closes windows and locks doors. A long way from the '68 Fords and Chevys I first started with that had manual windows and door locks. We even had a chief back then that had the power steering pulled. I guess that was his idea of developing upper body strength, lol.

Oh, and no air conditioning and we were required to always wear our hats while in (and out of) the car.

That said, he was the best chief I worked for in 30 years of service.

Anyone remember the old sirens you had to whack with your baton after they would freeze up during the winter from ice or snow?

Even with all that, I don't envy the guys (and gals) protecting us today.

The LTD was also called a Crown Victoria in some trims. In 1992 they removed LTD and called them Crown Victoria from then on, but they were always LTD's.
