New 2013 FFH owner checking in!

Recommended Posts

Hey FFH Forum,

Well, not exactly a new owner, got her back in Jan, but this is my first post and wanted to introduce myself. We ordered the Fusion Hydrid SE last Oct. We bought her as our primary drive to/from work. Sure is fun to drive! We ordered the Luxury trim with Technology package + MyFordTouch w/ navigation. Kind of overkill for what we use it for, but I'm a tech geek, so I'm happy! Plus the heated seats are a must for the wife.

Took a bit to get the hang of changing my driving style. Currently with just a little of 6K miles, lifetime average is at 43.4 and the current tank is showing just over 47. Would have been higher, but a very windy, blizzard day back in Feb dropped the mpgs some.

Prior to delivery, I found this forum and have enjoyed reading other's experiences. Through this site, I've managed to collect a few TSBs that I'm saving up for action when the fuel delivery module is in stock. Current task is wading through the spare tire thread trying to make sense what I need for the stock 17". Sucks not having a spare as I normally rotate tires myself, not to mention not having a spare if I actually need it.

Looking forward to gaining alot more knowledge and interactions from this site!

Ed

Welcome Ed. Ordering last October like us you were an early adopter. What was your build date? It sounds like your car might have been built in the same batch as Jeff_h's car. He also ordered in October and took delivery in January IIRC.

Hi,

I have had my Ice Storm FFH titantium for just one week now. I really like it. I have been reading the posts on the internet and at this site to try and maximize my mpg. For this past week, I have gotten 40.5 mpg, which I think is pretty good considering I am just learning to drive a hybrid. It's hard to go slow on the fwy in So Calif when the average is about 70- 80 mph

I am wondering if I am accelerating properly. My coach on the vechicle looks pretty good, but I wonder if it is better to accelerate slowly to speed and then back off just a bit to kick in the battery. Or is it better to accelerate alittle bit more briskly and then back off to kick in the battery?

Accelerate to speed and then back off just a touch. You will really piss off a lot of people if you accelerate trying to keep it in EV mode.

I still haven't quite got the hang of the coach. Has anyone figured out the cruise portion? I wrote a thread way back on accelerating, and keeping it around the second bar seems to be the best way to get up to speed efficiently. Use very little EV when first starting out from a stop and use the EV when cruising, unless you are only driving at 15-20 MPH.

I think it actually has to do how constant you drive it terms of speed and throttle movement. Mine shows almost 100% all the time since I try to drive as constant as possible whiteout going crazy on the throttle.
