Andrew Report post Posted July 12, 2013 Hello, I recently purchased the new Samsung Galaxy s4. I have the bluetooth setup and it works fine. I turned on all applicable text comminication options. While driving I get the message of an incoming text and the options to listen, ignore, reply. When I select listen, nothing happens. Anyone having this issue? Any solutions? Anyone having this issue? Any solutions?Have you tried adjusting the volume? It might sound silly but I had this issue yesterday that I received a text but could hear anything. While sync should be talking try turning up the volume. The volume setting is different for a lot of things in the sync system. It might not be as simple as that since the text message option seems to be a hit or miss with some phones. Edited July 12, 2013 by corncobs

Andrew Report post Posted July 12, 2013 (edited) Wow... if it is a volume issue, I will be ashamed of myself. I will be trying this out later and report back. Edited July 12, 2013 by Andrew
aaronj1159 Report post Posted July 12, 2013 Just to chime in... I have an S3 and it's hit and miss whether sync will receive my texts. Some drives it works like a charm, others I'll never know I've had a message.

Guardian_Bob Report post Posted July 12, 2013 Galaxy S3 has a similar issue. Here's the thing, text messages use a different Bluetooth profile than calls. The call profile is a standard now, that's why calls always work. The text message profile is just becoming a standard. As such some manufactures don't implement it correctly. It also might be implemented to spec, but the sync system doesn't understand (different interpretations of the spec). Long story short, I'm hoping 3.6 fixes this issue, but I'm not holding my breath. Both Ford and Samsung can point fingers at each other, so it wouldn't surprise me if this doesn't get fixed. 1 aaronj1159 reacted to this

murphy Report post Posted July 13, 2013 Have you authorized it on the phone? I found a pop up box on my S II requesting authorization when a message came in and a check box to remember the answer.
Andrew Report post Posted July 15, 2013 Yes, I have authorized it. Shortly after pairing the two I recevied a message asking if I wanted to relay my texts to SYNC. I did get a software upgrade from Verizon for my phone over the weekend. I think I am going to "re-pair" the phone to see if there was anything that new that resolves my issue. Andrew Report post Posted July 16, 2013 Great news! Today I got it to work. Im not sure exactly what got it working so I will just layout everything I did in case it benefits some other poor sole in the future: - I recently recevied a software update from Verizon- I "deleted' my phone/device from SYNC- I "re-paired" the phone/device- I sent a text from the car, from the touch screen, while in park, to my wife- The text was sent successfully- She didnt reply right away so I started playing around and decided to execute a Vehicle Health Report (VHR)- After the report was executed, I received a text from SYNC advising of the VHR generation. It was read to me beautifully!- About 2 minutes later I received a text from my wife and SYNC relayed the message as designed. Could have been dumb luck, the software update or the fact that I sent the first text OUT using the touch screen. Who knows but now I can say I am a proud owner of a $30,000 text relay service! :happy feet: 2 corncobs and acdii reacted to this
