Temperature Control kills MPG

My mpg has been increasing for 3weeks I've had the car , however it decreased and I figured out why, I had the temperature settings turned on. Major drain on mpg.

I too have noticed that if you run the A/C hard to cool down the car it drains the battery fast.

Ran the A/C yesteday and only got 50 MPG on a short 7 mile trip that normally nets 60 MPG. Coming home with the A/C off and windows open we got 62 MPG

This is one reason my commute home is not as good as my commute to work. Afternoon is hot and humid and A/C is a must for me lol... Plus i take a different route with more interstate because my city route is way too congested to take in the afternoon.

Running the AC on lowest settings tends to drag my MPG down to the high 30s. I usually get mid to high 40s with some nice low 50s thrown in.

Yesterday my wife had the car and used AC all day. We've been resetting the MPG on the Empower, Engage etc screens daily now. In her about 15 miles of driving she only got 42 MPG using AC. Today in my trips driving through the same parts of the city I'm averaging 66 MPG over about 50 miles so far today with no air conditioning

I tried driving with the windows open and no AC, but the peanuts in the back kept moaning and groaning.

Out here it's pretty much impossible to get away with not running the A/C. In fact, for a good portion of the year I have to run heat in the morning and A/C in the afternoon. Yesterday it got up to 108* here. I know it's all a drain on MPG but there's not much I can do about it!
