500 mile club? 2nd Installment

Recommended Posts

HELP!

I'm really trying to become a member of the 500 mile club - at the moment, I have 480 miles on this fill-up, the estimated mpg is currently 44.4, the miles-to-empty indicator tells me I have 30 miles to go, and the low fuel light is on.

Should I chance it for another 20 miles to gain entry to this esteemed club, or break down and fill up first thing in the morning to be safe? What would you all do in my situation?

What's your gallons used display? You know how much fits in a tank so if you are at 11 gal I would go for it.

I just ran mine down to 0 DTE and still had about a half gallon in the tank. Filled it up with 13.16 gallons. Go for it bit don't blame me if you gotta call roadside assistance!

I just checked, and the display is showing 10.9 gallons used. So I guess I will go for it - but I am bringing a can of gas in the trunk just in case!

I would say you'd be alright. Good to take some along just in case though. If I were in your position I'd go ahead and fill up, but that's only because I'm paranoid about running out on the road.

GO FOR IT! Even if you didn't completely fill the last tank by a whole gallon you should be good if it says you've only used 10.9 thus far.

Plus at 0 DTE you still have at least 30 miles or so of range we've proven. So go for it!

I was home sick today and didn't have to drive anywhere, so I'll have to decide tomorrow what I am going to do! LOL!

I didn't wimp out, but we are going to visit friends who are about 50 miles away, and once I get on the turnpike, there won't be a chance to get gas until it would have been too late. But at least I know I COULD have gotten to 500 miles, since I only put in 10.5 gallons. This fill up was at 46.3 mpg, bringing my overall average to 42.9. I should hit 43 overall on the next fillup, and I will definitely be trying for membership in the club t that time!!!

FYI, the dash computer was spot-on at 10.5 gallons used.

Do it, I would have if I wasn't getting on the highway with no interim gas stations. I'm pulling every trick I can to exceed 500 miles on this tankful. So far, I'm at 47.6mpg after 103 miles. Regardless, I'm still in awe of driving 103 miles and only using 2.17 gallons of gas!

I got to 501 miles with 14 miles left to empty. When I filled up my tank today I actually let it go for two clicks. I've always stopped after the first click. I put in 11.131 gallons according to the pump. I'm very satisfied with this. My 2010 Honda Civic could go about 275 miles in the summer & 225 miles in the winter.

If you can maintain this average it shouldn't be a big problem to get to 500+ miles per tank.

I still debating with myself if I should go for 600. Current tank shows 500 miles @ 48 MPG and 10.41 gal used I would cut very close with a 76 mile round trip Monday morning.

I guess having over 1300 (so far) on the original dealer tank, but on an Energi, will get me kicked from the club? :-D

Yup, no fair if it's in an Energi! Are you all getting close to 108 equivalent MPG like's being advertised?

I'm going to have to fill up again, but I'm confused... My mpg has not gone below 45mpg on this tankful, I have gone 370 miles so far, and the computer is telling me I only have 110 miles to Empty. Not sure what is malfunctioning, I will be filling up today and see what the rel numbers are. Club membership still eludes me...

Miles to empty are all over the place, I'd go by Gallons Used on the Trip meter and gauge miles to empty based on that for yourself and typical mpg.

I should be getting 500 miles on this tank. I will know mid-week.

Had to go around the block one extra time to get over 500 before I needed to fill up, could have gone further but I'm traveling far tomorrow.

Put 13.25 gallons in the tank.

Here is my 500 mile club contribution filled up today. Unfortunately it clicked at 11.592 gallons which brought the calculated average down to 48.3 MPG

Fuelly went up by 0.5 MPG, my average sits at 39.9 MPG and should tick up to 40 next Monday or Tuesday.

I wanted sooo badly to get to 500 miles I my first tank and my lifetime MPG made it seem like it shouldn't be a problem but I was getting close to 12.00 gallons used and I was unsure how full the dealer had filled the car. As soon as I hit 500 on the odometer I stoped at the nearest gas station. I had a the red gas warning light and it was below empty. I only put 11.11 so I guess before the dealer filled up the car almost a gallon was used. I will try again with a clean slate on this tank of gas. I am going to Alabama and back this weekend so I will also try the 1000 mile challenge.

I like how my trip report says 504.0 but the odometer says 503.9.

The red light of doom freaked me out but I was determined to make it. It seems like I could of made it another 100 miles and tried for the 600 mile club. I never try to pump more after the first click but I just couldn't believe that it only put in a little over 11 gallons. So I guess the red light of doom comes on when there is about 2 gallons left.
