midnight555 Report post Posted June 21, 2013 I love my Ford Fusion hybrid except I get complaints about call quality. I have an iPhone 5 paired via Bluetooth to the vehicle. I can hear the caller fine, but the caller hears a lot of background noise or static most of time. I have paired another iPhone 5 and an iPhone 4 with the same results. I took the vehicle to the dealer and they performed a master reset on my Ford Sync Touch system and they claimed it solved the problem. How is everybody else experience? Is it just my car? srogers Report post Posted June 22, 2013 Do you have version 3.5.1 of My Ford Touch installed? There is a fix for call quality in that release.
midnight555 Report post Posted June 22, 2013 I have version 3.2.2.
corncobs Report post Posted June 22, 2013 I have version 3.2.2.An update to version 3.5.1 should help with your problem.
acdii Report post Posted June 26, 2013 Also adjust the volume on the phone, if set too high when calling, it can cause feedback which makes it noisy. You can adjust it down a bit when on a call using the phone controls, but only during a call. Get the update done too, it will make a world of difference on everything. rjkla Report post Posted July 9, 2013 I have an HTC DNA. I have had several complaints about call quality, and according to my Sync account online, I am on 3.5.1. I keep the volume at fairly low, so it's less about feedback than it is about my voice sounding either over-modulated or otherwise of poor quality. If anyone else has any ideas I'm all ears. I'm considering taking it to the dealership but haven't done so yet. Thanks.
hybridbear Report post Posted July 10, 2013 I've noticed when calling my wife while she's driving that the call quality is often poor. I assume it's just because the microphone is far away from her mouth and she tends to speak softly. She hasn't said that it's hard to hear me when she calls while I drive, but I try to consciously speak loudly and clearly when in the car.

When I drive with my wife, she likes to talk though the car from the passenger seat instead of holding the phone.
JSKershaw Report post Posted July 16, 2013 Where is the microphone in the Fusion? When I drive with my wife, she likes to talk though the car from the passenger seat instead of holding the phone.I believe the microphone is located by the reading lamps on the roof. I have a sunroof installed in my car and I can see the grill where it's located.

sdeeble Report post Posted July 19, 2013 Corncobs, do the "updates" get applied automatically to our car or do we have to upload them ourselves? Also have you heard about the "85 mph" update coming in August?
corncobs Report post Posted July 19, 2013 Corncobs, do the "updates" get applied automatically to our car or do we have to upload them ourselves? Also have you heard about the "85 mph" update coming in August? You can do the sync update yourself as long you don't have Nav. For Nav the SD card needs to replaced. If you go to syncmyride.com you will find instructions how to update the sync software. Yeah the hybrid update will be exciting hopefully it fixes at lot of those underachieving FFHs. 1 neod192 reacted to this
neod192 Report post Posted July 19, 2013 You updates are not automatic. If you don't have navigation you should be able to download the update to a USB drive and do it yourself. SIgn in to syncmyride.com for instructions. You can also have your dealer do the update (recommended). If you have navigation a new SD card is required, so you have to take it to the dealer to get it done. From what I heard, the update can take a couple hours to be applied. Riggo Report post Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) I've noticed my phone calls have these waves of horrible static ever since I've updated to ios7 on my iPhone. Anyone else having this? I re-paired my phone to MFT and even reset my phone network settings but it's still doing it :-/. The people on the other end of the calls say I sound fine. It's my end that sounds terrible. I've also noticed my radio stations don't come in nearly as well lately. Maybe I have a sun spot hovering over my car. KLH Report post Posted October 3, 2013 The call quality may be due to any one of these: phone, bluetooth, car environment, microphone, carrier, signal strength, and volume of voice traffic being handled by carrier at your location. When it comes down to it, it's amazing that calls work at all. In any case, I have a Galaxy Note 2 (on Verizon) and haven't received a complaint about voice quality... yet. Riggo Report post Posted October 3, 2013 Same phone here but no complains about call quality after iOS 7 update. Hmmm. I get this popping noise and static on parts of the calls I make. I wonder what the problem could be then.
Daniel Ward Report post Posted March 11, 2014 I have this same problem with my brand new 2914 FFH titanium using an iPhone 5s. Lots of static... Only on calls. Also notice that the radio reception isn't great...
acdii Report post Posted March 11, 2014 Resynch the phone and turn down the volume. It helps correct sound quality.
