It's Gettin' Hot In Here!

Recommended Posts

My car and my previous 2 have had black/dark leather interiors. I like this and don't

mind it beomg a little hotter in the summer. Windows down and drive off and it cools

off quickly. I still would not trade the dark interior for a lighter one, I'd get the same

next time.

I do think, however, that the 2013 with the black HyTi leather (can't speak for others versions) does

seem to absorb heat more than other cars I've had with a black leather interior. More

noticeable than my 2004 Acura TL or 2010 FFH. Steering wheel gets very hot when

I don't consider it hot outside. Could it be the glass or the materials?

Even on a moderate 82 deg day, not baking hot out, the interior seems fairly hot when I get

in the fully closed car at the end of the day. Hotter than I'd expect. It does cool off with

the windows down.

I do have a CoverCraft windshield reflector on order, I will see if that helps.

Curious what others say?

I cant say that it heats up any more than others.....but.....i think you will like a window shade....It really keeps the heat from building up in the dash.....and that area is really hard to cool since it stays in the sun almost all the time while driving...

It does seem like the dash area is much bigger/longer/wider than the average car and it being

black, acts as a giant heat sink. So I sort have thought this is the main culprit and will soon

know if the reflector helps.

This seems to be the one to get and others have mentioned. Accommodates the lane

keeping cameras or not. On sale for $45

Have you taken advantage of the holding the unlock button to open all windows before getting in? We do this as we're walking up to the hot car and it really helps cool it down a bit before we even get in

Oh sure, that works pretty well when I remember to actually do it and get close enough to the car.

I was just wondering if in general, people found that the car gets hot more easily than they might expect.

I like the kind you can twist up and fold into a circle....not as nice and clean fit when installed....but they fold up and store nicely between the seat and middle arm rest.

Just wonder - what difference does it make if the lane keeping camera is blocked or not. Your not going to drive down the road with the cover up...are you?

There are two versions of the screen. One with a square cutout for the cameras and one without it so that you

get maximum/full window closed coverage regardless if you have lane keeping or not.

If you had that cutout, but didn't have the cameras, the sun would come in there at that point, defeating

the purpose of using the screen.

Ok, learned something new that my car can do - will have to try this out! Still need to install my dash mat and see how that changes things, if at all. I also have the black leather interior, and love it. Not a fan of the brown/tan interior.

I use the remote start a few minutes before I get in and let the AC chill everything before sitting down.

I feel like George Jetson.

If you use remote start, you cant use the auto global down feature, but if you use the GAD first, then you can use the remote start. Been using this a lot, and it really helps!

Still waiting on this one would like very much to see how it looks.
