Ford moving back to knobs, away from MFT

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure I get the point of why Ford is doing this. What is the point of putting back radio volume and tuning dials? Anyone who doesn't like the MyFord Touch radio controls can use the steering wheel controls for both of these. Am I the only one who actually likes MFT?

My biggest issue is I've owned Ipads, Android tablets, and now a Surface tablet, and the complete lack of interactivity in the MFT compared to these devices makes it a difficult system to deal with when you are moving. We just installed a Sony head end in my wife's car and the touch sensitivity is so much better.

I don't have My Ford Touch in my car but I tend to use the controls on the center console more than the ones on the steering wheel. I drive a lot with my left hand & keep my right hand on the shit knob and the controls are right there so I find it more convenient. It's nice to have all the controls in one area. I wouldn't want them split up. But I guess it's a moot point in my case because I don't even have the touch screen.

I'm happy with MFT so far. It's easy to use and figure out. I don't see the point of going backward to knobs.

If Ford would just get the current system stable, they would be much further ahead. Its the glitching that people complain about the most. They do have a way to go though, GM has the touch screen like the istuff, and now that microsoft has there own version it only makes sense to integrate that.

In your '13 Fusion you already have the "knobs" the article is referring to. You have the ability to control function by touch, knobs and speech. I rarely use the knobs, but instead use the speech function.
