Ok so something really strange happened today. Car has performed flawlessly so I think this was a fluke but I am going to be a little on alert lol,

Came home yesterday turned it off as always and when I came out today to leave the vehicle would not power on/start. The the display said No Key Detected and the key wouldn't lock or unlock or pop the trunk. I thought hummm maybe the battery was dead. Go get my extra set and same thing.... nothing!

Popped the hood and of course everything looked good. Closed the hood and presto everything back to normal lol.... I thought humm maybe loose cable of some sort but after inspecting again and wiggling what I could w/o killing myself everything is tight and nothing loose.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

With my experience working in a service department of a dealer for many years before changing career's to IT I saw lots of strange anomalies like this that could never be explained or found out what caused it. I am not one to run off to the dealer complaining about every little thing and what people fail to realize is that the more complicated things get you will at times have unexplained things happen that are not really "problems'.

Sure a break down would be inconvenient but if it's broke they can find and fix it which is better than me wasting a bunch of time running back and forth because they can't duplicate the problem.

There are some that are doing that randomly. There is a thread here somewhere that I started about this subject. There is a "pocket" inside the center console on the drivers side front that will accept the fob. Place it ring up buttons to the back and then start the car. It resyncs the fob. I am in IT as well so it doesn't bother me that much since I have a solution for the problem. When my fob does it, my wife's does it also, so I know it is the car and not the fob.

Hope it helps....

That does help thanks! I'm going to have to hunt up the thread you already started and read it.

Speaking of strange things(non car related here sorry for off topic), the other day, and you IT guys will appreciate this, I had a customer call that their VPN device stopped working. Well after trying some programming on the router for a new VPN connection that would not work do to their network design, and about 3 hours later I ask, so what was the IP of the device doing VPN? I can ping it internally. They came back with the IP of the router, and I said, no, not that IP, we were trying to establish the VPN using that IP, he said, no thats the IP it has been using for the past 2 years!

huhwhat? Wait a minute, if it is using the same IP as the router, that is also bound to the voice system, how was it working at all, and why no IP confilct reports being logged? Unknown. I gave them an unused IP, they changed it on the device and the VPN started working again.

Very strange, just like the key fobs.

Very true! I'm not really IT but I deal with a lot of similar stuff. You reboot a system and for some reason it starts working again.
