My other hobby when I'm not getting 55+ MPG ;)

Recommended Posts

I don't think I have any pics of it - we lost boxes of photos years ago, but I'll check with my dad to see if he has any -if he does, I'll post them here for you!

Those are neat, that must be a fun and rewarding hobby.

I especially think the black and white photo of the locomotive makes it appear very real.

Cudos!

Wow! Really nice man. Thanks for sharing those!

At Brookgreen Gardens, where I volunteer, one of the galleries has a Christmas display that includes trains being run. Nothing elaborate, but still very nice. So enjoyable to watch them run.

Wow! This FFH Forum site sure brings you in contact with some super interesting people. Great photos. I had the pleasure this past November to successfully shop for a prewar Lionel "under the tree" O-gauge oval setup for a son-in-law when a new great grandson got the rights to the one I received for Christmas 1938.

Here are some more pics I took this past weekend. I only posted a couple as large pics so as not to take up a lot of screen space. You can click on the small pics to see them larger.

When I was in college i used to drive a train at the Pittsburgh Zoo. Last spring we saw a version of it in Smithville, NJ. After about 15 minutes of talking shop with the guys, they let me take it for a spin.

Beautiful trains! I used to have a nice model set as a kid but the track was just one single loop.

If you visit my province (British Columbia), I think you will have a great time at the Miniature World in Victoria (the provincial capital, on the island). It features painstakingly realistic miniature versions of famous cities, including working model trains with lights and smoke. I visited that place when I was 13 and loved it.

I don't know how I missed this post when it was first published. Hybridbear, I know you will appreciate this - when I was 10 years old, my family bought a house in Roslyn, LI, NY, with a finished basement. When we moved in, we noticed that the wood paneled back wall had a keyhole at the top, with a key in it. When we unlocked it, the wall came down, and there was a complete Lionel train set, with an entire village - houses, buses, police station, trees, etc. My dad and I used it all the time. My only question was why we left it there when we moved? I'm sure that was irreplaceable! Your setup is AWESOME!

Thanks for the tip! I have family in Port Alberni & Duncan so I hope to get back out to Vancouver Island soon. Maybe next summer...
