Just because I have been curious all this time how my FFH would compare to acdii's old 13' FFH I took my family for a little spin this morning and drove the same roads acdii had such bad result in his.

Also since he will be getting his HyTi hopefully very soon I wanted give him some feedback what a correct functioning car can achieve, like he is doing for this forum all the time.

 

It might not tell most of you much but I wanted to share the result with everyone and hopefully shows that some cars do have issues.

 

Here it goes:

 

CL to Harvard on Rt 14; for the most part I tried to stay of the ECC driving at posted speed limit which is 50 and 55 MPH.

 

 

On the return we stopped at Farm&Fleet in Woodstock. This time I let the ECC do all the work, this portion is 55 MPH and let me tell you 55 MPH is an awful speed for the FFH. It's right the threshold that the SOC is very high but yet the car doesn't cycle into EV mode; resulting in an instant MPG of maybe 30.

 

 

The second part of the return Woodstock to CL; speed limit 50 MPH outside the city. Again ECC did all the work and 50 is much better for the car to cycle in and out of EV mode.

 

 

Now if you combine the two return section it comes out to 43.7 MPG a little bit better due to the warm ICE at the start of the return. Actually better than what I expected since the FE screen showed three 6 minute intervals right at my current avg of 38.7 MPG.

 

I'm pretty sure I could have done better without the ECC at 55 MPH but that was part of the test. It was the first time for me driving my FFH this way and didn't really try to maximize FE. If this would be my daily drive I'm pretty sure I could do better just like acdii is doing better in his 10' FFH.

Hey, you were up in my neck of the woods! I had to go to F&F today too for a battery swap on the Grand Marquis. I was there between 4 and 5 this afternoon. They didnt have a battery so I had to go to Belvidere. I took 47 down to 176, to 23 over to 20 and when I got there I got 48 MPG.

 

From CL to Capron which is through Harvard to 173 and west from there I have been able to get 48 as well.

 

On a 60* day in the other car, best I ever saw on this route was 36. Only when I did over 60 and kept it out of EV did it ever get higher, so hoping the new one works well. As long as it does, pretty sure I can get mid 40's on that route.

 

The Grand Marquis had its first road trip in about a year, and it needs to be driven a while, man was it sluggish. Had to burn in the brakes, they were rusted. Then had to replace the wiper motor, got that done, then fixed the horn. Drive it again, and this time the left turn signal wont stay locked, guess too many left turns. :) Then one more thing to break, the drivers window regulator snapped when I raised the window up. Grrrr. What a day! LOL

 

So latest update the car is in Chicago Heights, so looks like it could be here next Wednesday or Thursday!
