Blue Tooth phone connection name

Recommended Posts

My phone displays as a model or serial number on the screens. I don't see a way to have it list as Chis for instance. Between us we have five phones...business and work and it'd be easier to name the phones.

I'm sure it's obvious, but I don't see an option to name the connection.

What kinda phones do you have? My iPhone has my name and that's what is displayed when connected or in the phone list.

You should be able to go into the phone (Bluetooth settings) and give each one a name. Then when it's connected to the car that name will show up.

Sync pulls the name off the phone, so if the phone has not been setup with a personalized name, it will pull the default name which can either be the brand or serial.

I have Samsung S3's and iPhones. The iPhones show up as "iPhone" my Samsungs show up as "SPH and some numbers"

If I go to the BT setting on the S3, it says:

My Device

SPH--1710

Only visible to paired devices checkbox yes/no ... unchecked

Paired Devices

Chris's Phone

The second section is what I changed, but it still doesn't show my name in the car.

Did you unpair and re-pair the phone with SYNC after you made the change?

I renamed my S3 by pressing the Menu button, then "settings" then "Bluetooth", then hit the menu button again and select "Rename Device"

AH HA! I think that'll do it. I did upair and re-pair yesterday, but it didn't work. I think this will do the trick though. Thanks

Worked like a charm. Does anyone know how to rename the iPhone? It doesn't seem to have the same option to rename the device.

Go to the Settings > General > About > Name on your iPhone; otherwise like acdii said iTunes should work as well.
