Cracking noise FIX

What's an IME?

I think it means "In my experience"

Not sure though as IME, I only know oil/gas acronyms.

Elle, this 'Fix' thread to end all the confusion is getting confusing!

Ford says that our FFH's need a 'Thrust Washer' for the Fix, we now find out the Dealers cannot even obtain them, then if installed they may not solve the problem.

Looks like you're going to have to start a 'Fixed the Fix' Topic when Ford, once again, finds the Final Fix.

That's a lot of 'F's.

Maybe driving slowly, hybrid style, has more benefits than just good mpg's. The wheels might stay on longer…. :fear:

Oh, I get it now. There's a fix, and after that you need a fix for the fix.

Just called my dealer about the TSB and he has put my request in to have the part ordered and like was said above, the part is not available to dealers yet. He said it might be toward the end of June, but put in a "Warranty Emergency Order" to see if that will help expedite things at all.

What is it was Ford and part suppliers...yikes!

Meh, I called my dealer to have them order the part and they want to have a technician verify that it's needed for my car before they order it ... The guy I usually deal with is out sick today, so they'll call me on Tuesday to set up an appt ...

Talked to my dealer this morning. He says that they cannot order this part because the part # on the TSB for the thrust washer doesn't exist in their parts ordering system yet...

LOL! I guess we're way ahead of ourselves, as usual.

So along with the missing shifter, looks like they also forgot to install the thrust washer/shim. hmmmmm

There is something wrong here.

So far every other contacted Dealer, including mine, says the part is on backorder, yours says the part doesn't exist.

Huh? I'm so confused. Is this, or is this not, a fix for the clicking problem? I sent this to my dealer and have not yet heard anything back. Will follow up in a day or two.

I have a 2013 hybrid built in Nov, 2012 that HAD the same noise. I had a warning light come on telling me I had a plb and to take it to the dealer. The Dealer said they replaced a cooling pump for the hybrid system. Guess what.... The CLICKING noise stopped. I was surprise, the dealer was surprised and at 5000 miles still no clicking noise.

I believe you posted this once before - if you would be so kind we need specific data so we can forward this to our Dealers.

The Dealer that did the Warranty work is supposed to supply you with a paperwork receipt showing all the work done on every instance of repair to your car.

It would be great if you could supply us with the actual info about your repair from your work receipt.

1. What Warning Light Alert was your dash showing?

2. What work was performed on your Work Receipt from the dealer?

3. Did they do more repairs than just the cooling pump?

Ford Engineering is concentrating on the axles/hubs/suspension and a cooling pump is a far cry from that area.

This would be very interesting to pin down.

The noise my car makes is repeatable every time I accelerate or brake, it doesn't happen at any other time.

I agree! My Service Advisor said he would investigate and call me on Tuesday. We'll see what he says and I'll update everyone next week. For the owners who have had success getting their dealer to order the part I'd like to know how the dealer managed to order it.

I'm going to guess this was an entirely different clicking noise.

Curious to hear what they say when they call back. I called my parts department and had them check that part # (DG9Z-7G273-B) and it's not in their system either ...

I thought they just need to add the thrust washer. Are they replacing the other parts listed on the TSB?

The TSB has them replace the two nuts and one bolt that are removed and add the thrust washer.

My Service Writer called it the 'TSB thrust washer Kit'.

Mine just said they have the parts on order and should have them shortly. So either they're having no issue getting them, or they are unaware/don't want to tell me there's a delay in getting the parts.

Talked to dealer again yesterday when dropping off car for other issues to fix. Service Advisor said that they can get all the parts except thrust washers. He still says that they cannot order thrust washers because the part # on TSB doesn't show up in their parts ordering system.

Last week (Thursday) I was told the parts were on order and it would be about three weeks. I'm to touch base with them in early July if they haven't called me by then.

I took the FFH yesterday for the battery saver warning dc/dc module re-programing, and they replaced the gear shift knob and did the "field service action" fuel module replacement. I asked them to check for a clicking/popping sound. They said they couldn't hear it and no work was performed. It took all day and part of the morning, so all that work is a multi-day job. It's gotta be costing Ford big money on these "field service actions."
