Better to drive above or below 62 MPH (100 KM/h)?

Hi All.

 

What is everyone's opinion on driving above or below 62 MPH / 100 KM/h when on the highway? I've heard there are certain efficiency losses with using EV from both the losses from generation and losses from propulsion.

 

I've personally found its best to allow the car to EV cycle while on the highway - drive at 100 KM/h, allow the ICE to run a little bit harder to recharge the battery then allow the vehicle to drive in EV until its depleted.

I've done better overall cycling the EV but I wouldn't do it at speeds of 60mph or more. I will always EV/Charge at 55mph or below though. Above that, I'll set cruise. It's worked out pretty well so far...

Terrain and weather are big factors, but for me it tends to work well when sticking with 62 mph... inched up another 10th on the way home from the office today.

Yes he is. Even the times I got 50% EV it came NOWHERE near 40 let alone 48. He gots a good one for certain.

For Houston Highways, I think the slower you can go, the better.

I think i do better at 58 than I do at 62. Probably cycles in and out of EV more often.

But 62 is definitely better than 65 for me on Houston highways.
