Artist and song names when streaming through Bluetooth - AVRCP v1.3

My phone doesn't send the artist or song names to MFT when I stream music via bluetooth. This is because it's a Nexus phone and stock Adnroid doesn't support AVRCP version 1.3.

 

But this is all about to change! AVRCP 1.3 is coming to Android API level 18 (the current 4.2 Jelly Bean release is API level 17) !!!! This is so exciting.The update will also include Bluetooth Low Energy support -- also known as Bluetooth Smart and Smart Ready. The phone will just need MAP support to make it fully usable.

The Lumia 920 does this. But what I find odd is it only shows on the main MFT screen and not on the cluster's right side display when set on Audio.

I have the iPhone 5 and it sends complete info via Bluetooth, including album art and album name.

It doesnt from Itunes(or whatever they call it now), but Pandora does. I prefer the USB hookup though as it sounds better.

I've seen that with phone calls too. I would be on a call with someone in my contacts and the # and name shows up as unknown on the small screen, but not on the 8" one.

Weird, while playing Pandora over bluetooth on my iphone 4S, I don't get any album art. I only get the song name and artist. Why no album art for me?

Check the settings on the MFT, there is a setting to select art from the phone or from the library, and if from the phone the art wont transfer over BT.

My Samsung Note 2 (which is Android Jelly Bean) does show artist and song name on MFT display.

All I see is a setting that says use media player or gracenote for album art. I tried both settings and neither work. Hmmmm.

You're not alone, but it sort of makes sense. How could Gracenote possibly show album art when the BT connection's not letting Gracenote know what song's playing??

Well the song and artist info shows on the MFT, it's just the album art that's not showing.

Well if it doesnt display on the dash but only on MFT, maybe that is why it doesnt show the art. Its only halfass receiving the info.

Not sure if this applies in this topic or I should start my own, but when I listen to Podcasts it actually shows just the name of the first mp3 I have on my device. But that's not all, if I'm listening to a Podcast when I turn the car off, the next time I get in it continues from where I left off only at this point it shows all the Podcast information on MFT.

I'm using a Galaxy s3 with the Podcast Addict app.

There is a lag on the small screen showing the known number/contract. About 5-7 secs it seems. So if you answer the call

before it switches over the known name/# it will always appear as "unknown". Weird problem, but if you wait, it will

switch to the actual name/# if it's in your contacts.

What if you're the one making the call? I've seen it show unknown when I call SYNC services - and I added that # to my contacts.

The 13 Fusion did that all the time, but the Flex, which has 3.5.1 shows the correct info.

Wazzul, I also have an S III. I do not see ANY song info when playing Pandora via BT. Do you?

So I found by calling Ford that the only way my car will show album art from the iPhone on my ford touch is using it through the USB. He said they should be having applink update soon to address the issue over Bluetooth.

Samsung's newer phones have it. My VZW Galaxy Nexus is at the mercy of Google and Verizon. It may be time to root

We also have the small screen and have found that sometimes on outgoing calls it shows the WRONG contact name and phone number. The delay is annoying too. The phone starts ringing before the contact info shows up. Our car is maybe only a 3 second delay though, not 5-7 seconds
