BradS7535 Report post Posted May 10, 2013 I just bought a 2013 Fusion Hybrid Titanium, and my dad just bought a 2014 Mazda 6. I love my car and he loves his car. He has sent me a few reviews where the Mazda beats the Fusion. Comments? Any comparison reviews found that give the edge to the Fusion?

acdii Report post Posted May 10, 2013 Silence vs rocks in a can. Thats how I can compare the Mazda, at least the one with the Skyactive engine. I went to look at one, and lost interest the moment the engine was started. 1 BradS7535 reacted to this
c152driver Report post Posted May 10, 2013 They both seem like really nice cars. I like the exterior styling of both. I think the interior of the Fusion looks more modern. No hybrid in the Mazda6 is an obvious difference, although the published mileage figures for the 6 are pretty impressive. I haven't driven the Mazda, but I'm sure it has a sporty character like other Mazdas. That seems to be what the auto press likes the most. Personally, I think it's great to have two new well-reviewed mid-size cars. Both make the Accord and Camry look pretty boring, in my opinion. More competition should be good for the auto-buying public. 1 hybridbear reacted to this

tombarker13ffh Report post Posted May 11, 2013 (edited) Dunno why there's no Fusion in American road racing... probably cuz Ford doesn't want to spend money on a 400-HP twin turbo Fusion.. Edited May 11, 2013 by tombarker13ffh
hybridbear Report post Posted May 11, 2013 If you were looking at non-hybrid cars only then I'd think the Mazda6 would be a great contender to beat the Fusion. I don't think the Fusion is all that great as a gas only car. We drove a Titanium 2.0 EB while the dealer was working on our car for fun and I wasn't impressed with the gas version. What I don't understand is why ANYONE would NOT consider hybrids...

rico567 Report post Posted May 31, 2013 More like a single-elimination playoff. Interesting, but hardly exhaustive. Had the cars been paired differently, other views may have been brought to light. OTOH, we've driven the Prius, Fusion, Passat & Accord in the past few months, and I have no serious argument with them choosing the Accord the winner. However, I'd have had no problems with the Fusion or Passat, either.
Guardian_Bob Report post Posted May 31, 2013 So I tested the 2014 Mazda 6. After having an '06 with 6 cylinders, the 2014 4 banger just didn't have the performance I was used to. I couldn't do that, knowing with the right engine, that car could do so much better. It was a let down. As I said elsewhere, the '06 Mazda 6 I had didn't hug the road, it made sweet love to it and cooked breakfast in the morning.
kuzzi Report post Posted May 31, 2013 Does the Mazda6 share the Ford CD4 platform?
Guardian_Bob Report post Posted May 31, 2013 Pretty sure it doesn't, Mazda broke with Ford a couple of years ago. I could be wrong.
