Had my 2013 FFH for a few months and....

So, with my second baby on the way i decided it was time to trade in my toy (400hp wrx netting 20/23 mpg, but required 93 octane!) for a more practical and fuel efficient vehicle. My uncle happens to be a salesmen at a ford dealership in philly and convinced i had to have the FFH. With the other cars i was looking at (acura/bmw/audi) i figured probably not but after a test ride and seeing the 47/47 rating i ordered one that day (appearance package, moonroof, remote start)...

 

Had it a couple months now and had some time to digest. Overall a very solid cars that competes with those higher end models for less $$$. Clean, neat inside/out, quite, easy to drive around, etc. The only thing is its not a bmw or audi (superficial i know but this is america!).

 

Mechanically seems ok so far. Acceleration is adequate, braking good, steering/response above expectations. I hear the brakes clicking on both sides every time im nearly stopped (anyone else?) and the driver side window has become stuck several times so far (once i thought i shut all windows with the remote only to find it was open in the morning). Hope these aren't a sign of things to come...

 

 

My biggest concern so far, shared by many i see, is the fuel economy. Ive average about 35-37mpg so far, not bad but far from the rating. Now, this is not my first hybrid (my wife had a prius II and currently has a prius V). In the same area (time, temp, driving etc) the II consistently netted 48-52, and my V rated at 40/44 i net about 43-45 with currently. Frustrating because as i see it, if a car is rated at something, you shouldnt have to alter everything about how you drive to approach the numbers.

 

All that being said, i would buy again right now if i had too. Ive saved a ton in gas, car insurance and payments (thanks to my uncle :rockon: )... here it is btw!

Awesome. The things you mentioned having issues with have been discussed here, and you will find all the answers you need to get them resolved. The window for example is a glitch, and needs to be reset, usually caused by a low 12V battery. There are TSB's to resolve the battery charging, which should correct the window issue. The clicking you hear appears to be a common occurrence, many here have that same noise. The one I had also had the noise but I wasn't concerned about it as some other are. The low MPG though, with all the driving I have done over the years, and owning 3 other Hybrids, the one I had was horrible, barely got over 35 no matter how I drove it, or where I drove it, even in 70* temps. If it was my first Hybrid, chances are I would have been perfectly fine with it, but since I have a 2010 FFH as well that consistently exceeded the new Fusion MPG, It just pissed me off. However, that being said, when the time comes for a new one, the Fusion is up there as first choice, if the price is right.

 

The car itself is remarkable, handles great, very comfortable, nice toys(except MFT), and you cant get another car like it with the same options for this price. Pretty sure eventually the EPA will either be revised, or Ford will have figured out what is causing them not to be as good as the previous generation. When you consider the 2010 is rated at 39 combined, and its easy to get 42+ combined in it, and yet when you see the Fuelly numbers on the new one and a good majority of them are below EPA, something doesn't seem right, especially when compared to other Hybrids.
