BradS7535 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 Hey all, Just recently picked up my 2013 FFHyTi and noticed something. I had test driven other FFHs and in the arm rest they had the USB, and A/V cable ports, as well as an AUX port, but in my HyTi it has the A/V ports, USB ports, and a SD card for the Nav, but not AUX. Did Ford just remove the AUX port to put in the SD reader for the Nav? If so, does that mean that ANY Fusion with Nav doesn't have the AUX port? Just wondering why some cars have the AUX and some dont. Thanks!
neod192 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 That's a side effect of MyFord Touch. You can use the audio A/V inputs instead of aux.
BradS7535 Report post Posted April 27, 2013 Just wondering why that decision was made. I would think an AUX port would be of more use. All phones and MP3 players have a headphone jack you can plug right into the AUX port. (Most of those devices you could plug in through the USB ports too). Now if you wanted to connect those (not through USB) you would have to get some sort of adapter from 3.5mm to Composite. Anyone really have any use for the A/V inputs anyways? Would like to hear what people think of using those for. 1 erichFla reacted to this

I wouldn't even know what to buy to make an Auxiliary connection to the Fusion. Luckily, streaming works great when your phone connection works, which is about 90 percent of the time for me. Two failures in twenty days.
GrySql Report post Posted April 28, 2013 I've connected my iPhone using the a Composite w/USB to 30-pin and watched a video on the 8" screen. That can only be done when in Park, so has little use.I agree, including a simple Aux would serve more people's use than all that other paraphernalia. There is a product that can bypass the 'Park' issue but I'm not that interested, my iPad is much easier. Then I started thinking, it really is much better to have the USB to 30 pin cable Because it will CHARGE your device at the same time you can listen to your music, where as, if you use the AUX. you can hear the music but No re-charging of the device, now you are just listening only and your Device battery will run down. That's what I think why they did away with it. Just my thoughts or the Aux.The only thing you could use the A/V for I guess is to play Portable DVD player or some such device but you'd have to be Parked for it to work. BradS7535 Report post Posted April 29, 2013 Yeah, I agree that putting your player/phone through USB is better (play and charge at the same time). Was just puzzled why they would remove AUX but keep Composite, especially when you can only use the video feature in Park. Haven't had any problems streaming Bluetooth Stereo from my phone. I just wish Android (or Samsung) would include the MAP bluetooth profile so I can do text messaging, and whatever other bluetooth drivers are needed to send Artist/Track info to MFT while streaming. 1 erichFla reacted to this
elle Report post Posted April 29, 2013 Luckily, streaming works great when your phone connection works Not the case here at all. I don't even listen to music anymore because streaming with 3.5.1 is so horrible.
BradS7535 Report post Posted April 29, 2013 What kind of phone do you have? What issues are you having? I haven't had any problems streaming bluetooth stereo (Google Music) through my Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Just hope that the spacing between the ports on the car will match the spacing on the adapter...otherwise you will need a cable. 1 erichFla reacted to this

That's why my way it doesn't matter about the spacing, the Red / White cables plug into the car Audio jacks and the 1/8" Black adapter plugs into the device's ear phone jack. This might be a better way to go. Edited April 30, 2013 by erichFla
LASooner Report post Posted April 30, 2013 Just hope that the spacing between the ports on the car will match the spacing on the adapter...otherwise you will need a cable. If it were $20 it would be a point of concern, but at 45 cents, I'll take the risk. I was ordering toner from them anyway, so shipping is not an issue. But I would prefer to have a 3.5mm port with no extra cables, so I can use my cable that has an isolation loop. Sometimes you'll get feedback if your phone is plugged into the car power and the audio system without an isolation loop.

ny2oc1996 Report post Posted June 2, 2013 For future reference, that adapter you bought was 3.5 mm mono (not stereo).
