That's an option on all Fusions - it costs extra $ and you can buy it when you order the car or later.

I got mine today, they're completely pointless, but they are bling-a-licious. :banvictory:

It took them a while, they had my car most of the day yesterday, because I was at work when they finished I just had them hold it overnight and picked it up this morning. But it took over 5-6 hours.

It involved removing the headliner and pulling up the carpet to run the wiring down the A frames, glad I had them do it. My Ford service place did it for $300, but I saw someone else got theirs done for $280 on another forum, your mileage may vary.

Wow, I just followed the instructions from Ford and did mine in the garage - love the blue look - it took about 2 hours and I didn't tear out the headliner - the directions clearly state to tuck underneath the lip after connecting to the dome light wire -

Unlike some in other cars, at least these you can see when the door is closed.

I just did my neighbors fusion - took 21 min the second time around - very easy - amazing how these cars snap apart and together

I just don't have time to work on my car or pretty much anything else these days. So I have to pay too much to have other people do it for me. They're going to have to re do it though. I noticed the Fusion on the driver's side is white and the passenger's side is blue. So they're ordering a new kit. Is there some sort of blue gel in there that they forgot to put in or is it a blue LED?

The LEDs are white and the letters on the plates are blue. The kit shouldn't be as expensive as it is... but it is very nice once installed. I wonder why the Titaniums didn't come with it standard.

Anyways, like everyone said, it takes about two hours or so because of unfamiliarity. The only thing to look out for is removing the dome light/sunglasses unit because there are fragile tabs that are easily broken (and they don't look easily replaceable). Everything else just snaps off/on. The splicing and soldering is challenging only because of the tight space. All in all, it's not a difficult installation. The instructions - which are only pictures - are great.

Oh, I... uhh... validated why you don't want to close doors or the trunk with the battery disconnected....

I had both the door sills and the ambient lighting done. I love both, but if I had to choose only one, it would be the illuminated door sills. You notice them every time you get into the car and they make the interior look more luxurious.

I was thinking about these. Would be neat if they would change color when you opened the door like the ambient does.

Could you scan or take a picture of the instructions so we can see just how "difficult" the procedure is?

Does anyone have any pictures of this?

Thank you. :)

Ok I just got my 2015 FFH. And had the illuminated door plates installed..... They stayed on all the time..... Even after you got out of the car and locked it. Took it back to the dealer.... Now they turn off if you get out and lock your car... But stay on when the engine is running..... Called the dealer and they said they would get back to me before they closed...... That was three days ago.... My question is do they stay on like that..... Seems to me they should go off with the dome lights...... Very annoying staying on like that....... I'm going to have the dealer take them out and put back the original door sills if they do..... Way too much money involved for them not to go off.... And three trips to the dealer with no satisfaction.... It's a new car.......

I installed them myself. The connection point is in the wiring harness above the rear view mirror. It is the feed for the dome lights. They are on whenever the dome lights are on automatically. I keep my dome lights turned off but the door sills are on when the dome lights would be on. Manually turning a dome light on does not turn the sills on.

Well mine stay on whenever the motor is running, and the dealer says they are wired correctly..... Not happy.......

Have another appointment with my dealer to fix the illuminated door sills again... ( 4th time the car has been worked on ). The car is just a little over two weeks old......... Every time I take it in they re wire the sills and they act different but not the way they should...... Ready to have them just take them off and refund my money..........

Maybe send them the link to this forum to show them how it's done. In addition I would send a PM to our Ford rep so she can get the right people involved.

Third point: find a new dealer!

The instruction sheet that comes with the door sills describes exactly how they are to be connected to the car.

according to the dealer the instruction sheet does not cover the 2015 model....... He believes the wiring has changed since the instructions were printed....... My next step after today is getting ford involved...........
