smr2112 Report post Posted April 22, 2013 So can anybody tell me the correct way to use accessories (ie, listen to the radio) when the car is off and not]running? What will waste the least of the 12V battery. This is with the push button start and I/A key I should say. This was fairly easy with my 2010 FFH, I'd just turn the key to accessory and then blank out the display andI could listen for 20 minutes (in 10 min cycles) without any real drain on the battery. Unclear the best way to do this without the displays lighting up. I can go into settings and turn thedisplay off, but something tells me this still may be draining the 12V battery more than it should. I know a quick start press with no foot on the gas puts it in accessory mode, but not like theaccessory setting with the key ignition.
smr2112 Report post Posted April 23, 2013 Experimented with this a bit... Was after just listening to the radio whilesitting in the car with minimal battery drain. If car is off... Seems like with foot the brake, hit the START/STOP once, hit it again to turn off andthe radio should stay on. Then on the MFT display, hit SETTINGS, then hit DISPLAY OFFblanks the display (there is no hard button) If car is running... Just hit the START/STOP once to turn the car off and following the DISPLAY OFFinstruction in the above step. Car will shut off in 10 minutes and you'd have to repeat this again. acdii Report post Posted April 23, 2013 I just tap the button with foot off the brake, turns on acc mode, then you are good for about 20 minutes until battery saver kicks in, then start over.
smr2112 Report post Posted April 23, 2013 When you just turn it on once, doesn't the Engine light stay lit - which in the old days meantyou may be draining more of the battery than you want to. When I hit the button the 2ndtime, the engine warning light goes out. The car is really off at this point, with just the radio remaining on. Which is what I wasafter. Just like if you turn the car off after driving, the radio remains on. I am doing this from memory, so I could be wrong, but I thought I got it to behavethe way I wanted last night (ie, the engine light goes out).
