ny2oc1996 Report post Posted April 22, 2013 On the drive home from the dealer with our new Hy Ti, I kept thinking that this interior looks richer then I remembered it. And I knew it wasn't the upgraded Titanium leather as this difference was noticed while driving. I was so sure about this, I drove to the Ford dealer today just to compare. Sure enough I wasn't crazy. The Titanium has different interior trim then the SE. All of the metallic looking plastic trim that surrounds the entire console, dash and doors is a bright silver on all of the SE Fusions. On the Titanium's this trim is a dark gunmetal metallic that matches the charcoal leather. This trim does look richer with the charcoal black leather for sure. So now I am thinking maybe this is why the Titanium is only available with the charcoal black leather as this combination gives the interior a rich finish befitting the Titanium package. It seems to me that the Dune color is just too popular for Ford to ignore on the Titanium package. So why did they? My best guess is that Ford felt the Dune is sportier and the black is richer. The strange part of all this is that the Dune interior comes with a charcoal black console, dash and upper door panels yet the mating plastic metallic trim is not the dark gunmetal but the bright silver. Some Dune interior owners may just prefer the bright silver trim as this could add to the sportier look. If any owners had a preference to the trim that your car did not come with, these pieces can be bought separately and easily changed out. Finally, while at the dealership I noticed a non-hybrid Titanium with the aluminum sport pedals. And guess what? Ford only dropped the aluminum sport pedals on the Titanium hybid and Energi, not on the gas Titanium. What the heck is with that? After the fiasco of all the Fusions shipped without the leather shift knob that was previously advertised in that interior package, the sudden deletion of the aluminum sport pedals, the cancellation of the illuminated cup holders etc., one has to be wondering what is going on here? I received a Ford brochure on the day that I picked up our Titanium which showed those aluminum sport pedals and now I found out they were dropped months before. We seem to be going beyond a simple oversight now. My best guess is that the Ford bean counters demonstrated the need for a price increase and Ford balked because they wanted to stay sticker price competitive with their competition. That would explain the huge option cost increases that recently went into effect and the sudden deletion of previuosly advertised upgrades. No matter what the reason, it was handled poorly. We ordered our Titanium back in December with the aluminum sport pedals on the dealer list sheet which I have a copy of. Ford never notified us about deleting anything and still show this in an April mailed brochure? I really, really love this car but Ford, this is no way to run a business. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
Toz Report post Posted April 22, 2013 yes they really needed to be clearer when changing options on the fly. BTW they added the aluminum sport pedals and the intergrated duel exhaust back to the 14 HyTi's. 1 elle reacted to this

wazzul Report post Posted April 23, 2013 Really curious to see what Ford does to the base price for the HyTi next year. Econ101 taught us when demand is greater than supply, prices increase. If you look closely at the order guide they have specific %'s next to special models (I think HyTi was something like 10%)and so if demand for those ends up higher than the build % allows you can be damn well sure Ford will jack up the price of put off features until later model years.
