bhhess Report post Posted April 22, 2013 I understand the key must be with you to start the 2013 Ford Hybrid. But should the vehicle shut off automatically if you walk away from a running car with the key?
acdii Report post Posted April 22, 2013 It stays running. For how long, have not tried it. but I can say I have done that once in the Hyundai Veracruz. I forgot my key at home, and we drove to work with the key being in my wifes purse, and when she got out, I didnt hear the beep, but she did, and I drove to my office, and when I shut off the car, realized I didnt have my key. OOOPS. Also if you lock the key in the car, like my wife left her purse in the car tonight when we went to dinner, and I locked the car with my key being in my pocket, I was wondering if the car would unlock when she went to the car, and turns out, nope, so we were safe there. This is with our Flex, but the Fusion shouldnt be any different. Also if you step out with the ignition on and you have the key, the horn will beep twice when you close the door. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
srogers Report post Posted April 22, 2013 This is from the owners manual. Note: If the engine is left unattended for 30 minutes, the ignition and engine automatically shut down
acdii Report post Posted April 22, 2013 aw darn it someone actually did RTFM. Man, so much for the guessing game.
neod192 Report post Posted April 22, 2013 Also, if you drive away without the keys, get somewhere and turn off the engine - you have 30 seconds or so to re-start the engine w/out the key and drive back to get your key. Didn't RTFM, but that's what my sales person sold me. I'm not willing to try it out! 1 hybridbear reacted to this
