Never ever doing this again...EVER!

Recommended Posts

Well I am sure that I am going to enjoy my Fusion when it gets here, Fords order fulfillment system is some sort of joke. Retail orders should be processed in the order that they were submitted. Period. There are a number of people that orderd as late as 28th of March that already have their cars in transit on the rail system. The whole freaking ordering system need to be overhauled. Has Ford even HEARD of the internet? Do they know that we can see what is going on? If I didn't want this car so bad I would have cancelled my order weeks ago. Watching orders that went out a month and a halve after I put mine in (yes even in Ruby Red) get picked up and built while I couldn't even get a VIN is a shitty way to do business. Yes, yes I know all the reasons that it happens, and yes with the exception of material holds they are all STUPID. I will say it one more time just so every body knows I I feel about this

:angry22:  :rant2:

Rant over. Damn, I just want my car.

Good-ol'-boy networks are hell to fight, aren't they. You are dead right, of course. I'd be angrier if I knew that Ford is worse than other manufacturers, but I suspect they're not.

To reiterate, I placed an order for an SE Hybrid, all that was available at the time, in mid-June 2012. As of early December, I had no VIN, sticker, build date or anything at all. I wanted that car badly, but I was so incensed that I actually did cancel the order -- i.e., I feel for you. If this is some solace, though, I ordered my Red HyTi seven weeks before you did but got a build date only 4 weeks before yours. There are many of us who will have encountered much longer waits, however, I must admit that I wasn't aware of folks who ordered Ruby Red after I did but got build dates before mine. That would be a particularly difficult pill to swallow.

"If I find out you got your retail order before mine... I'll kill ya" (sorry that's what came to mind)... hope your order arrives soon, glad I went back to my SE Hybrid order as the Titanium Hybrid order is on a train with ETA of May 2nd, which is one week shy of six months.

Sorry man, I know my order is probably one of the contributing factors in your anger. I can only figure it's that I live in LA LA Land and my dealer didn't have any HyTi's on the lot or on order. I hope you get it soon. I've told the salesman at Power Ford that if I could have just ordered it on Amazon.com I would have, he said, "Me too."

Sorry man,

Absolutely no reason for you to be sorry in the least. I really hope you get your car as soon as humanly possible. It's Fords stupid system that I am annoyed with. It shouldn't matter if you are ordering from LA or Main or Iowa.

I was in the same boat as you. However, Ford decided to stick my car in a lot and forget about it. It wasn't until I started to make a fuss to my dealership and the regional rep that something happened and my car was on the move the following week. Look at my sig and you will see the majority of the waiting I endured. Now that I have it, it was well worth the wait.

I have very little doubt that the wait will be worth it. I just really needed to get off my chest how messed up I think Fords ordering priority system is. Now my big issue is weather to wait even LONGER on some of the '14 features (like duel integrated exhaust, and heated steering wheel)

As I ordered every option, I'm probably the last guy who should be saying you don't need such and such. However, my wife has a heated steering wheel on her Buick LaCrosse. It's sorta neat but no more comfortable than wearing gloves, really, and I'm thinking that anything that draws electricity might keep my ICE on more.

That said, just where do the amps come from to run heated seats, rear-window defoggers, heated steering wheels, etc.? in conventional cars, it obviously comes from the alternator/12-v battery. How does that work in a Fusion Hybrid? Can I run all those accessories without affecting the HV battery?

What I'm never doing again is buying a first production run or first new model year.

- My first produced vehicle never left Mexico and Ford never bothered to contact me.

- My second produced vehicle has had quite a few problems like missing leather shifter and this cracking / clacking / now thud sound that makes the car and Ford feel cheap :( Terrible customer experience.

While I am sure that it will have an effect on the Hybrid mileage, The cabin goodies are powered by the 12V system as far as I know. However the HV battery charges the 12V battery through a DCtoDC converter so any extra drain on the 12v system will have to have some effect on the HV battery.

Well I pretty much made a liar out of my rant already. I pulled the plug on my 13 today. Going to wait for the 14's. Probably end up getting it next spring if any of my options are "late availability" I really, really wanted the duel integrated exhaust on the 13's oh well. Back to the waiting game. :kuko: :kuko: :kuko:

In the end, unless you have an energi, ALL power used inside the car comes from the gasoline used in the ICE.

Sorry to hear this but I'm pretty sure dual exhaust will not be coming to the hybrid. Also I don't think you're going to see much difference between the 2013 and 2014 models. You might see slight changes like we did with the Job1 and Job2 productions (sunroof controls and aluminum pedals). Most of the bigger changes will happen in 2015 (if any).

Heated steering wheel and heated rear seats are on the MKZ so they won't be coming to the Fusion. This is how Ford differentiates the two brands.

JSK, the order guide is out for the 2014 and they are adding quite a bit more than we expected however the cooled seats and heated steering wheel are " late availability" so chances are 12 months from now we will see them.

But that being said Ford has shown us over and over that they don't always follow the original order guides when they actually produce the vehicles. If they do you can be assured they will be jacking up process because these cars are selling like hot cakes without that extra stuff! Toz, I think your making a mistake unless you REALLY like the car your driving now.

wiling to take the chance for the integrated exhaust and heated steering wheel. If I own the car for over 5 years then the extra wait will be worth it. It would be a different story if the car was already built and on it's way, but it's not. The order banks for the 14 are already open and I am still waiting on a build date for my 13. If the 14's had been just a model year newer than the 13's with out many changes I would not have waited. So I guess I put some money into my current car and keep it on the road for another season. One of the hardest decisions I have made lately. I REALLY want a Hyti, and my old car is.....old. If Ford had managed to get my my new car before releasing the 14 order guide I just would have said "man I would have liked those options" but I know me, and in 6 months after the 14s started hitting the road I would have been kicking myself for not waiting. Anyway I totality understand why every body who has a car on order would stick with it, and I know that the 14 is going to cost me more, but I want to be really, really sure I get the car that I will not feel that I settled on five years from now. Oh and I just noticed that the heated/cooled seats comes with the a 10 way adjustable passenger seat. Not an issue for us cuz my wife is tall, but some on the forums have wished for added height for the passenger seat.

Since you seem to keep your cars for a long time, it's best to get what you want and not settle for less. And now, you'll have one of the first '14s on the road (depending on when the late availability items get added in).

I am not a "car" person so this may sound stupid...but what does dual exhaust mean, and how is it better? is it. just the looks, or is there something else?

Toz, I totally understand and you know the only people trying to talk you into the 13 are those who are jealous they you'll be getting the features they wanted.

In your waiting time can I suggest you do some online research on dealers to find out which ones get the most HEV's and maybe even which ones get them the quickest ( earliest). It may be a bit of a drive to pick it up when it arrives but would hate to have what happen to me happen to you after a long wait. My original order placed Jan 1 still isn't built yet. I lucked out by switching dealers that had one coming in.

I stand corrected. Lots of nice features being added. The price will definitely be up there with every option selected. I do like the sound of the Brick Red interior. I am completely happy with my car and waiting another year wasn't an option in my situation. If Toz can wait another year (or longer), then I'm extremely happy for him/her. I guess I just don't understand on waiting another year to get a car just for dual exhaust and a heated steering wheel. Especially if you have to pour money into a current vehicle to have it last another year.

the dual intergrated exhaust just looks nicer. (depending on your point of view) It does not add any anything else.

You know, if all you are looking at is the dual exhaust, you are driving it wrong.
