WHat was Wrong with Your Fusion Hybrid When You Picked It Up?

Recommended Posts

Most cars only have washer nozzles that don't elevate, but can be rotated side-to-side. Maybe the pressure is too low or you could be right about being installed wrong. I'd take the service advisor on a tour of other Fusions in the lot and test them out to see.

I was told they had another Fusion in the shop at the same time and they compared mine to that one's nozzles and they both hit at the same spot on the windshield. I mean, it really is just getting the bottom 6-8" of the windshield wet. Would other owners here say their washer spray is hitting the windshield more in the middle of the glass and not just the bottom?

It hits pretty low, but the wipers spread it around. I've only had to use the wipers in rain, so the whole windshield was wet. There's no sald on the roads anymore to have to wash it off with the nozzles ... and I will not take it to a dirt road :)

Too bad there's not a "cyberdman" for tech issues.

You can always reach out to Eric or Trina on FB and they'll help.

Are you kidding, as little as he puts up with on the locator, can you even imagine what he might say to the person who was complaining about a tech issue too many times in one week?

Mine hit in the middle and blow a bit of spray over the roof, the wipers do the rest.

Yeah, I could!

Here's a pic of where the water hits the windshield on mine. Most of the water is on the low end, but the whole thing gets splashed. So far i didn't have any issues with the wipers not being able to clean the windshield.

So my service advisor called today. He submitted the second batch of photos he tried taking to document the rear window "mirage". I saw the photos and did not have high expectations. But he told me that Ford approved replacedment of the rear glass. He has ordered it and hopefully it will come in before or during the time the car is there to repaint the rear bumper on Monday.

I'm still left with washer nozzles that I feel are pointed too low. I can't clean the left side of the windshield at my eye level. My next mission is to document this with some video and work the available channels and see what can be done to improve it.

I have to admit, between my paint issues and this rear glass, I am very surprised and pleased with my dealership and Ford.

We do not have the issue with the rear window glass. I imagine that anyone who does should be able to get that fixed under warranty.

Attached is a pic of where our windshield nozzles spray the windshield. Like GrySql some spray splashes up onto the roof

This is the result I would expect. Neod192's looks closer to mine with just a fine spray ending up at driver eye level and that isn't getting the job done in my opinion. Thanks for the pics guys!

I hate it when that happens! That's no way to treat a customer. Sounds more like bait and switch tactics. Do you have your order form and did you get a DORA from the dealer when you ordered your car (Dealer Order Request Acknowledgement). The DORA shows pricing and that the actual vehicle was ordered for you. Hope it works out for you.

Sounds to me like they sold your car from underneath you at a higher price to someone else. Do you happen to have a copy of the VIN before pickup?

Well part of the issues I can't talk about until the security module is replaced. That said my car must have sat in the desert for a month or two. Look at the back of the engine:

I spent hours washing, waxing and cleaning this car. If it wasn't a case of needing a car right now, I would have just told them to order one.

Since it is now fixed, I had a bad code for my keypad, 11211. 1&2 are the same key. I had a stupid "hacker's" dream. 11111 and my car would unlock. I'll post a picture later.

Have you considered asking Ford to give you an ESP Premium warranty extension? Edited by Fastronaut

A bird crapped on mine right when I walked up to it after signing the papers. Salesman wiped it off though.

That's what I call service.

My issues so far:

  1. Driver side BLIS intermittently nonfunctional: Five visits to fix:
    1. Dealer did not run diagnostic and just assumed it was a problem with the radar sensor in mirror ordered new mirror
    2. Dealer installed new mirror, they did not notice it was painted wrong before installing. They had to order a new mirror. Mirror did not resolve BLIS problems.
    3. Dealer installs correctly painted mirror. Insists problem is with mirror sensor even though I show them manual indicating BLIS sensor in back 1/4 panel. BLIS problem still exists.
    4. Finally convinced dealer problem was with sensor in back 1/4 panel. Ford required full system diagnostic before approving 1/4 sensor replacement. Diagnostic revealed weak sensor in 1/4.
    5. Dealer installs new 1/4 panel sensor, BLIS finally works right. Time frame to get fixed, about 6 weeks total.
  2. Fuel filler cover would not open: When fuel door pressed it would not pop out so that it could be opened. Had to claw it open with fingernails. Took three visits to fix (part of five visits above).
    1. Visit one, show dealer problem.
    2. Visit two, dealer discovers they ordered wrong part.
    3. Visit three, new assembly installed. Didn't notice until a few weeks later that mechanic left tool mark dents on 1/4 panel around fueling assembly from trying to pry old assembly out. Complained about tool marks at scheduled service this past Saturday, still waiting for solution.
  3. Wrong gear shift knob installed: At end of 5th visit to dealer to fix BLIS issue above, I asked dealer if we were done for a while and they explained there was a service bulletin to replace gear shift knob. I thought they were joking, they assured me they weren't joking. I said we could wait until the scheduled service was due. Just got it fixed this past Saturday.
  4. Bad fit and finish around interior door trim: I haven't complained to dealer yet about this because I'm tired of dealing with them from issues above, but black plastic pieces around door handles on driver side keep popping out of place and have to be pushed back in place. I think they are missing some adhesive from their back sides. Overall, I'm not overly impressed with interior finish details, for a $34K car there shouldn't be fit and finish issues. My wife doesn't like the fact that the front leather seats have a cloth panel on the center console side of seats.

Paint defects on mine. There was a spot on the trunk where a piece of paint could have been peeled off. The body shop re-painted the trunk. There were also various scratches in the clearcoat that were wetsanded out.
