neod192 Report post Posted April 7, 2013 My old car has a switch to turn on Cruise Control. Once on, it'll stay on until I turn it off. It looks like in the Fusion I have to turn it on every time I start the car. Is this really the case and is there any way to have it always turn on? I can understand why lane assist isn't always on, but cruise control? It seems like there's so many more buttons to push before I can hit the road in this car: turn on cruise control, turn on lane assist, set destination in the nav .... At least the headlights and wipers are auto on this one.
corncobs Report post Posted April 7, 2013 I have noticed the same but it seems to be a Ford thing. My wife's explorer behaves the same way and its kinda annoying. With Chevy it's like you said turn it on or off but it keeps the previous setting.
B25Nut Report post Posted April 7, 2013 If someone else were to drive your car and didn't know the CC was always engaged, I can imagine some safety problems. I think Ford's is a better way. 1 hybridbear reacted to this

I think Ford's is a better way.Not true, it's not actually engaged until we actually set the speed it's cruising at (it forgets it when you turn CC or the car off). It's more on an enabled button :) 1 corncobs reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted April 7, 2013 All fords have been like this since the day they put the buttons on the wheel.
rico567 Report post Posted May 19, 2013 Our SAAB is like the Fusion, and we've driven SAABs so long we wouldn't notice. Our neighbor's Impala is in the "always on" mode until turned off....although, as has been mentioned, nothing is really going to happen once you start the car until you "set" the cruise. It's all about what you're used to.
fusionTX Report post Posted May 19, 2013 I think my Toyota Camry behaved the same as Ford's do.
elle Report post Posted May 19, 2013 I don't need cruise control rollin gout of my neighborhood and generally wouldn't think about it until I hit the highway, so that's when I turn it on. It has taken me some time to get used to having buttons rather than the stick control I had in the Prius. I liked the stick better, but as someone said, it's all about what you are used to. When I'm ready to use it, I hit on and set and am good to go.
acdii Report post Posted May 19, 2013 I didnt care for the location of the CC stalk in the yota. I prefer the buttons near where I rest my hands while driving. 1 corncobs reacted to this
hybridbear Report post Posted May 23, 2013 I also prefer the steering wheel buttons over the stick like Toyotas have. On our Honda Accord Hybrid the cruise could be left on and ready to engage all the time which was nice. In the FFH I sometimes hit the set button and take my foot off the gas only to realize that I didn't turn the cruise on first so now the car is slowing down lol

acdii Report post Posted May 23, 2013 Since I have been driving Fords most my life, you would think I would remember to turn it on, and do the same damned thing! :) Still had to turn it on in the Toy's too.
JSKershaw Report post Posted May 26, 2013 (edited) My Mazda3 had to have the CC turned on every time the car was started. I find that I obtain better mileage without using the CC anyways. Edited May 26, 2013 by JSKershaw
