acdii Report post Posted March 28, 2013 WOOHOO finally in the 40's today and looks like 56 on Saturday! Yeah! Of course this means everything will become a swamp from the melting ice, but if this continues, I might finally be able to get a bird in the air. Come ON SPRING! jeff_h Report post Posted March 28, 2013 Two days ago it was 52 here and I stopped halfway home for a bit, then starting with warm ICE drove 20 miles home and did very well, see below. YMMV of course, but I've said before that I notice a definite difference in the car's behavior between 30 and 60 degrees, with the warmer temp it jumps into EV much easier and stays there longer. hermans Report post Posted March 28, 2013 Yesterday it was 48 degrees here and for 28.4 miles I got 52.8 mpg. Cold engine to start.
acdii Report post Posted March 28, 2013 I see it in the 10 all the time too. Haven't noticed it in the new one though, seems to get what it gets when it gets it, some days it gets really good, other days, no so good. Vewy interwesting! Puzzling even, makes me go, Hmmmm, is it Possessed? Did the angry spirit of my Flex decide to haunt this one now? Leave it to me to get a moody car. keybman Report post Posted March 28, 2013 My MPG has been consistently getting better, mostly due to my learning curve on how to drive a hybrid. But, living in the Southwest, the temperature has always been from the high 30's to the mid-70's, and has not seemed to be a factor. I seem to get the same stats at 35 degrees that I do at 75. EV kicks in usually about 1/2 mile after a cold start. Plus, the terrain here is mostly flat - no large uphill drives. The biggest environmental factor that I have experienced so far was last week, after a cold front had moved through our area - there was a high sustaining wind. Driving into that wind, my MPG for the trip was around 37 MPG. Bottom line for me is that I am not sure that I will see a temperature benefit, considering our climate here. Hopefully, the summer blend will help to improve, but I am not expecting any personal dramatic difference otherwise. On the other hand, I am looking forward to seeing the positive jumps in MPG for my friends from the North. 2 Toz and B25Nut reacted to this
