Should we all just wait for the 2014 Ford Fusion?

Recommended Posts

well, I have no idea what the links are for, I keep debating waiting for the 14's, but damit I really want my car. I don't want to have to wait until fall and get my Hybrid delivered just as it starts to get cold again. Even if it is a model year newer.

I will say it again, I have been told by my dealer (whom I trust) that there will be no 2014 model, or if there is it will be a very late arrival. The 2013 came out mid production, so it will not be replaced by the 14, but the 15, That is what I am being told.

Donilin shows ordering for MY 2014 dates starting RSN (real soon now) May, for August shipping. It is tempting as I approach week 12 of unscheduled status. If I don't have my car in my hot little hands by late May (and it isn't looking good), I don't see any loss to getting in the line for the 2014... worst case, I'm waiting an extra 8-12 weeks and getting a car with a higher MY and value.

This was from about 3 weeks ago from a manager at a dealer on a thread on BOF. Haven't checked recently:

Here's the latest 2014 Fusion information available...

04/15/2013 2014MY Order Bank Open Date

05/16/2013 2014MY Scheduling Begins - Hermosillo Plant

07/17/2013 2014MY Scheduling Begins - Flat Rock

07/15/2013 2014MY Job #1 Date - Hermosillo Plant

08/26/2013 2014MY Job #1 Date - Flat Rock Plant

There is no additional information available at this time regarding any changes for the 2014MY Fusion or about the vehicle production at Flat Rock.

With the Mexico plants record, I would prefer the car come from there. First run cars off the Flat Rock plant, with all new crew and inspectors, I would be leery of those. Nothing against the workers, but it IS their first car being built there for this line.

Nope, it was straight from Donlen. A large fleet site. They've been pretty acurate in the past. They aren't yet breaking out the models (hybrid, Energi) like they did last model year.

They also mention known delays...

Since I'm now in week 13 of unscheduled clean status... If I run out May in the same, I'll cancel and start waiting for a 2014, which wil likely only have very minor changes, but at least will be a model newer and have a little more value at the end.

Heated steering wheel too! Base model Hybrid S, making it more affordable now too. Red leather, hmm now that one I would have to see. Ruby Red with red leather. Man talk about seeing RED

I'm fairly apprised by the number of changes they're rolling out in the 2014s. I think most people expected very minor changes but some of those to the HyTi seem much more.

I must say thank you Ford for the smack in the face with the Integrated Exhaust and Aluminum Pedal covers ( as originally advertised for the 2013 HyTi). But then again I'm sure we could just replace the back bumper cover.

pedals should be a breeze, I'll bet that back bumper would be a pretty pricey exchange though.

Well I pulled the plug on my 13 today. Going to wait for the 14's. Probably end up getting it next spring if any of my options are "late availability" I really, really wanted the duel integrated exhaust on the 13's oh well.

That's really annoying that the 2014 Hybrid SE will have the option of push button start!! Grrrr...maybe we'll have to trade up for a 2014 FFH. Maybe the 2014 will have less bugs and issues
