Nav System Question

Recommended Posts

I have a question I'm hoping someone can help me with. On my nav screen, the icon representing the car has I white circle around it the continually blinks on and off. Is there any way to stop the blinking?? It's as annoying as all get out.

It is annoying for me too. I tried to find the setting but could not see any way to turn that off yet. So for now, I have my big screen set to Entertainment and the little screen on the right of the speedometer set to Navigation. I find this works well for me and it is less distracting to.

That's a good idea I'll try until hopefully there is a more permanent solufion. But do you get the voice directions from the dash screen?

No voice! They are more annoying than the white blinking circle.

My previous car, a Mercedes had the sexiest female voice ever! I miss that.

Must have been nice. The voice in Ford sounds like she works at either IRS or DMV.

The non-optional blinking circle is for quick reference, luckily it is not directly in your forward vision.

The standard synthesized voice sounds like the same one on my Garmin, Jill.

What I don't like is the MFT' s 'Obey traffic laws, etc' lecture before the route directions.

I've been running a Garmin 2555 along with the MFT Nav and it's interesting to see the differences.

The Garmin's CYA lecture is an 'I accept' window, not a voice.

They both have Traffic enabled and preferences are the same. The voice on the Garmin is off.

My routes vary and the units ETA times are as much as 20 minutes different on a 120 mile traffic congested trip, the Garmin is more accurate so far.

The closer to the objective the MFT Nav starts getting nearer to the correct ETA.

I have noticed that the MFT Nav will 'learn' my routes if I override the suggested route.

I sometimes pick the longer route because I like it better and the next time I arrive at the same junction, the MFT points me to my override route automatically.

The Garmin doesn't learn, same every time.

Have someone send a text to your paired cell phone that includes 3 or 4 smile icons at the end, and then hit 'listen' to have the sync/nav lady read it to you... she reads out the icons as "happy-smile happy-smile happy-smile happy-smile" but you're right, the voice is a bit bland so I'm just not feeling the happiness.

I found the button to turn the voice off. Silence is golden. I would much rather have the car talk to me like Darth Vader than what it has now.
