MyFord Touch glitches

Recommended Posts

Yep, this was exactly the issue I encountered at my dealer, does not show up for my VIN. They even gave me a copy of the notice from Ford about not installing 3.5.1 on NAV Hybrid / electric vehicles.

As it is not authorized for the FFH with NAV, my dealer won't install it as they won't get reimbursed by Ford for the technician's labour.

The same thing happened to me...the only difference is my dealer called Ford to get approval to install the update and A4 card. I have NAV on mine, but with approval, they installed the update. It even shows the uninstall of the old software and the install of the new software on www.syncmyride.com

Yeah but if Apple wrote the code, it will cost $3,995, we will all die or get lost using the map (if the same map in iOS6 was used) and we would have to pay for any and all updates to the MFT from the App Store! :-)

Totally funny!!

Here's a new one for me. It got stuck connecting to my phone. Sat like this for 14 miles, until I shut the car off. It did it again after I restarted the car, phone never did connect.

I have been having problems with MFT and streaming using bluetooth-- the songs will begin to advance on their own and I don't get to listen to more than ten seconds of a song before the next one will play. This started out as an intermittent problem but has become chronic to the point at which my audio system is unusable. I don't keep music on my phone, so streaming is the only way for me to enjoy the music I really like. Yesterday my husband and I took a 45 mile drive to visit friends and this completely ruined the enjoyment of the trip for both of us.

I went online last night and found out that I am by far not the only one, and the issue is with MFT 3.5.1 and the inability of the software to properly sync with the song times. People are having this problem with all kinds of devices; it is not specific to the iPhone.

There's no fix for it, but somehow (through a lot of trial and error) I was able to reset the whole bluetooth system (removed my phone, disabled bluetooth, re-enabled it, did a bunch of other things that may or may not have made a difference) and for the moment it is working properly. However, this is a huge problem that Ford is apparently not addressing, at least not publicly.

I'm hoping that whatever they come out with to replace 3.5.1 will fix this problem, but there does not seem to be a fix for it. I prefer not to put music on a USB drive for a few reasons-- my music library on iTunes and my husbands are all mixed together, they are vast, and right now the only way to get to them is through the cloud since our main computer that had them on the hard drive no longer is functioning and would prefer to just stream music from Spotify and Pandora. Prepping something on a flash drive seems pretty 20th century to me. I might as well just use the CD player.

So, though I will not be the first, I am planning to send a note to Ford Customer Service and beg them to fix this problem ASAP. One of the reasons I wanted to get rid of my Prius was because I had no way to plug in my iPhone and listen to my own music-- not even an analog input on that car. One of the things I looked forward to most of all in this car was hearing the music I wanted to hear. Major disappointment.

I got irritated reading the Consumer Reports reviews of this car because they keep harping on the "confusing" MFT interface, like they're a bunch of old men who probably can't program their VCRs, either. I don't find the interface at all confusing, but it is definitely glitchy and if they can't get this right it will make a difference in my willingness to ever purchase another Ford.

I prefer the old ugly version in my 2010 and F150 over the MFT. Yes its pretty, but useless. That makes it pretty useless. Only problem I have with my old system is getting the Iphone to switch to USB after the car is turned on. If I plug it in before starting it works fine, but if I plug it in afterwards, it gets stuck between streaming and USB. Unplugging and plugging back in seems to work best.

I agree - I wouldn't call MFT useless but I much prefer the way that my 2010 FFH worked. Haven't had the sync'ing issues noted above, I use a 16GB iPod Nano and that has always been fine... but I'm not a big MFT fan otherwise.

If I had all my music on my iPhone and could use it as an iPod that would be the way to go. But I don't keep a lot of data on the phone because it costs too much to back it up to the cloud. I could backup everything but the music, but then if something happens to my phone I have to start all over with loading in all the music, anyway. Much rather just use streaming, and I pay $10.00 a month for Spotify, anyway.

From what I read last night, these problems all started with 3.5.1 and weren't present in earlier versions. I hope that means they can fix it with the next upgrade.

I set mine to backup over wireless and not the network, even though I still have that rare unlimited plan. I also used Itunes to sort and load the music I want. There is also a plugin that rewrites the tracking information for the Sync. Since the Fusion has 2 USB ports, another way is to get 2 USB drives, and put his and hers music on them, then you can pick and choose which one to listen to. Pandora is great, but they do have that 40 hour limit, which I hit last week, so couldnt listen all last week. :( Yeah, first day of the month I can listen again.

I have unlimited data but for iCloud backups you have to pay for extra cloud storage over a certain amount. I already stopped backing up my photos because of that, and the music I'm sure would be no different.

Oh did not know that. Goes to show how much I use it :) I have my music on so many different drives that losing one would be no loss at all. Backup early, back up often, and some times, oh look what I found!

How does one "reseat the MMC card?" MFT won't let me access the settings menu...everything else works find, but without access to any settings, I can't update my phonebook and obviously can't master reset. Can someone tell me how to manually reset it?

Thanks!

I don't think you tried searching for this, because you would have found it :) It's even on first page of topics in this group:

I have searched out the wazoo. I tried that, inserted teh USB and it didn't load the program.

Hmm, did you extract the zip file directly to the root of the flash drive (not in a folder, and not on a computer to be copied to the flash drive)? Was the engine running? For the reboot to actually happen, you have to remove the drive from the car and turn off the ignition. Then open and close the door.

As far as resetting the MMC card, I think that's just the SD card used for Navigation. You can try pulling it out and put it back in, but I don't think that'll help.

If that still doesn't work, your only other choice is to remove the fuse for the SYNC computer. Not 100% which fuse that is, but a few GOogle searches suggest that it's either #13 or #14. Hope this helps!

Extracted to the USB...the extracted files were in a folder already? When that didn't work, I tried taking them out of the folder...still didn't work. I'm gonna try a different USB at home, but when you extracted onto the USB, did you get a "delayed reboot" folder or just the files?

Thank you so much!

So I was driving on the highway yesterday when all of the sudden the MFT screen went black. The radio still played but the screen was completely black. This went on for what felt like a minute or two and then a big "SYNC" logo appeared on screen and a message underneath with a progress bar that said "performing scheduled system maintenance". I'm assuming this was a system crash and that's sync's way of making the crash look like it's something that was planned. Anyone else have this issue?

Yep happened to me a few times when starting the car. Took 5 minutes before the MFT was functional.

So do we think it's just a system crash and the "performing scheduled system maintenance" is just a cover for "critical error, rebooting"

My STUPID System decided to "perfom scheduled maintenance" while I was using NAV in the mountains 5 minutes from my turn. I took the wrong turn, and was 30 minutes late arriving. I was less than pleased. The FFH is pretty good, but I hate the "technology" compared to what I had in my 2012 Dodge Charger R/T. The NAV sucks (Dodge using Garmin), the scheduled mainenance is a Joke, and S-XM does not give access to favorites like the dodge did (with the Dodge, you could pull up your favoites screen and see what was playing and check the sports favorites to tune to any game in your foavorites or just view the score.).

It is getting to the point, the only time I love my FFH is at the gas pump.

Fixed both, used a TomTom, and Pandora. Problem solved.

Last week my dealer said that an update to Sync MyTouch is to be released by end of June with many fixes to the issues we all are having. Keep your fingers crossed.

This happened to me today. At first I saw the familiar windows error box show for a few seconds, then the dreaded black screen of death. After a few minutes all was well again. The only thing I had done different today was I connected my iPad to the MLT for the first time. Hmmm. I know Apple and Windows don't get along, but come on! :victory:

Anyone had issues with their Weather Map? Yesterday the Weather app & navigation would crash if I tried to pull up the map. I could see the current and 5 day weather, just not the map. After the crash, the navigation would restart and start a new route (luckily it remembered the destination and way points). A MFT restart fixed the issue (I keep the delayed reboot flash drive in my car all the time).

Another bug that happened just a couple days before that, when I would browse channels on Sirius it wouldn't scroll up or down - it was stuck on list of displayed channels. A MFT reboot fixed this issue as well ...
