MFT clock not keeping time

Recommended Posts

I just noticed this at lunch yesterday. When the car is running or in accessory/standby mode, the clock on the MFT screen will not keep time. It stays at the same time from when i started the car. The clock in the instrument cluster keeps time. If i go into the clock options and go back out, the time will update, but that is the only way it will keep time the last couple days.

Any one else have/had this issue?

Version mft? Previous version of it tends to do that from what I heard, more so in the Cmax.

Version 3.5.1. It was installed from the factory. Build date 11/28/12. Just started in the last couple days. Only noticed when i went to go back to work from lunch (i like to listen to the sat radio while sitting in my parked car at lunch), and thought "wow is it that early?" then looked at my cell phone and saw it was 20 minutes behind. Then today i noticed it didn't keep the time while driving either.

It's observations like this that send a whole bunch of us running out to our cars to check and see if we're experiencing the same issue.

This Forum is very helpful.

I have v. 3.5.1 too.

Edit: Just ran out to the garage, etc. My display seems to be keeping time as normal in standby and running mode.

Well, on my drive home it decided to keep time sporadically throughout my 35 minute drive home. At first it fell behind 3 minutes, then decided to catch up to within about30 seconds of the instrument cluster clock. It did this throughout the drive home. it would fall behind a few times then jump the 2-3 minutes to be almost in sync with the instrument cluster. Guess for now I'll have to just look at the instrument cluster for time. I have to get my tires rotated in about 800 miles, so I will ask about it went I make the appt for the tires. My dealer is not close to me, so it isn't something I can just drop off and wait for unfortunately.

By the way, did anyone try to reset the clock to GPS time? It changes but it's off by an hour, like FFH does not recognize the daylight savings. I change the setting for daylight savings in the Clock option but it doesn't matter. No matter what setting, my clock is off by an hour. Annoying.

Same here. Must be a Microsoft thing, took them years to figure out the time change when it was moved to the latest time changes.

I thought I read somewhere that the option to automatically adjust the time based on DST was removed and we have to manually adjust it. It was there on older versions of MFT.

I just noticed that mine is doing this exact same thing. I logged in here, and lo and behold here's this thread. Anyone found the cause and cure?

It is weird. Mine seems to have corrected itself. I was going to mention it when I take the car in for a tire rotation and oil change, but so far it is acting normally. Might just be a bug that will work itself out after a few days?

Some more info here. I just pulled into a parking spot and put the car in park. I have not moved the ignition key, and the car is still running. The MFT clock has stalled while the dash cluster clock is still ticking along. So all I did was put the car in park, and that caused the MFT clock to stall. If only actual time would stand still, I could vastly improve my overall productivity. This is not the first bug I've found. So far this MFT system is extremely amateur.
