acdii Report post Posted March 1, 2013 I had a moment yesterday where I wanted to reach through the phone and strangle the person on the other end. First wait 3000 miles for break in, then it was 6000 miles. now its 10,000 miles! OK, so when I reach 10,000 miles and it still does poorly, are you going to say, oh it takes 15,000 miles for breakin. eh, OK, Good place for a facepalm! Had to share it
lolder Report post Posted March 3, 2013 My 2010 FFH steady speed mpg has improved about 1 mpg from new to 50,000 miles and that's within experimental error. There is little in modern cars especially hybrids to "break-in". The rings are already seated. The bearings are perfect when new. I would think any break-in would take hours, not months or years. The new hybrid driver, however, has a BIG "break-in" period. 2 jeff_h and ace8726872 reacted to this
