okaydave Report post Posted March 1, 2013 I need opinions..will I regret if I don't get the tech package? I am getting the luxury and sunroof.
acdii Report post Posted March 1, 2013 Tech package for me is a must have. The BLIS is great, the cross traffic alert is handy. The auto highbeams, can deal without, but the lanekeeping is purdy dern nice. Not sure what else you get, but we got spoiled with BLIS in the 2010. darrel.e.wise Report post Posted March 1, 2013 Definitely a must have. Personally I love the auto high beams. They dim to oncoming traffic faster than I can react. Rain sensing wipers are ok, but will hardly use them. Lane keeping system is excellent. Rear view camera a must. Cross traffic alert has saved me more than once from cars I couldn't see. Adaptive cruse control is also fantastic (not part of the package but worth the price).
jeff_h Report post Posted March 1, 2013 Check to see if the tech package is the one that includes the rear-view camera (I think it is), if so then I would say it's a must-have.
B25Nut Report post Posted March 1, 2013 I think the Tech Package OK is talking about gives you the Rear View Camera (RVC), Sync Services, MyFord Touch and a 110v outlet. For $895, I think it is a must. There is a 90%+ chance that, after a week or so, you will really like MFT. You will use the Rear View Camera all the time. It covers all areas that you can't see with your properly adjusted mirrors. It is very helpful in parking lots, which are the most tension filled part of driving for me. The projected lines on the screen also guide you to be the preferred 2-6" away from the curb when parking on the street. I have yet to use Sync Services or the 110 outlet, so I won't comment on them. I rarely use Cruise Control, so the ACC was not worth the extra $995 for me, although it appears to be the best Driver Assist (DA) option. I have the rear sensors, but I do not regret not having any of the other DA options. There has never been a vehicle around me that I wasn't aware of from the visual inputs of the mirrors or the RVC. I know I'm old school and resist change, but I don't want to put up with false alarms or having my car do some driving on its own. I watched a video from Audi yesterday that demonstrated their proposed self-parking technology. It showed a women getting out of her Audi at the entrance of a parking garage. She pressed a button and the car took off and found its own parking spot. When she was done shopping, she pressed another button on her remote and the car drove out to meet her. Call me old, but I think this is a very bad idea.
Toz Report post Posted March 1, 2013 OK, your old. Hey you said! :)
djminfll Report post Posted March 3, 2013 I would definitely recommend it as money well spent. The package is $895 and includes:Rear CameraSYNC ServicesMyFordTouch with 8" screen110V Outlet Rear Camera is a real advantage, not only in backing out of a driveway, but if you parallel park or if you prefer to back into a space. I back in every time I go to an area or sports event since it is so crowded when I leave that I want to be able to squeeze my way into the line of traffic. If I have to back out of the space, I'll be there indefinitely!SYNC Services I haven't used much so far. The few times I tried, I was using the wrong key words and got no assistance. But I've only had my FFH for a week now, so I'm still learning some of the features and how they best work.MyFordTouch, I absolutely love! It divides the screen into 4 quadrants - Phone, Entertainment, SYNC, and Climate. It allows you to change any of them with voice control so you never have to take your eyes off the road. For example, press the voice button and say "Call Home" and the phone automatically dials the phone, and you converse through the radio speakers. Or say "Temperature 72 degrees" and the temperature changes; "Tune to FM101.5" and the station is changed, etc. You could live without it if you never had it, but once you get used to using it, you'll have to have it.110V Outlet - I haven't used it yet, so I don't know how important it really is. I know that some people previously made comments regarding Adaptive Cruise Control, BLIS and Lane Departure System - I ponied up the cash for these, and I think they are amazing! I have a pretty long commute to work each day, and the Adaptive Cruise Control is amazing - If I am cruising on the expressway and there is traffic ahead, the car applies the brakes pretty hard, slowing the car down to almost a complete stop. I even use it on surface streets, doing 40 or 45mph, and it keeps a safe distance between me and the car in front of me. The lane departure system doesn't sound particularly exciting, but in the rare instance where you stray a little out of your lane, the steering wheel applies pressure and keeps you from crossing the divider lines, and vibrates if you don't correct it. If you have ever reached for your phone or changed the radio station and took your eyes off the road for a second and drifted a little, you'd appreciate having this feature. For me, the nav system and sunroof were not very important, and I saved myself the $2000 that these would have cost, but I did spend the money on the safety features. I know that everyone has their preferences, these are just mine. Good luck once you make up your mind! 2 B25Nut and HenryVIII reacted to this
storksb Report post Posted March 3, 2013 I agree with previous posts the tech pack is definitely a must have. I think it makes the interior complete having the 8 inch touch screen.
tombarker13ffh Report post Posted March 4, 2013 Ive bought my last 3 cars with absolutely zero options whatsoever, and i could still not pass up the myford touch/tech package. Love the screen and rear camera.
GPa Report post Posted March 23, 2013 Do it! I have had almost 4 years with the first package (2010 loaded Fusion Hybrid), and held off buying at my dealer until the equipped 2013's finally started showing up. The BLIS, rear sensors, cross traffic, etc. become second nature after a short while. Contrary to what some reviewers are saying, you do get used to all the features of MFT ( and I'm an old guy-- but a techie)! I loved my 2010 hybrid, and happy that I ordered all in the 2013. Good luck!?
ace8726872 Report post Posted March 23, 2013 Highly recommended. With all the safety features, it is definitely worth having, especially if the package costs less than the average collision deductible.
ConFusioned Report post Posted March 25, 2013 The car we originally ordered was a no bells and whistle car. My wife only wanted a FFH with keys and nothing else. She said we don't need it. Cloth seats will do. Well after waiting 12 weeks with no car in sight, we went to another dealer who had a loaded FFH in the color we wanted. It had everything on it except for keyless remote start and the feature that keeps your distance from cars in front of you when using cruise control. We had our car for a few days now and my wife loves all the features and options on our car including the leather seats, moon roof, rear camera and kitchen sink. It has just about everything on it. We love the dual climate control for the driver and passenger but not ready to try the park assist it has. If I could do it over again, I would of gotten the two options we don't have. I could get an after market remote start but then I would have to put more things on my key chain. Only two regrets here.
ConFusioned Report post Posted March 25, 2013 I wished Ford would have included an alarm indicator light. We have the perimeter alarm but there is no blinking deterrent light. A light won't stop a break in but it may deter a potential break in.

ConFusioned Report post Posted March 25, 2013 (edited) Terryb where is this light? Are you just playing with me? LOL... There is a very small faint red light where the manual door lock used to be but you can barely see it with a microscope and it doesn't blink. I love what Ford has done with the FF so I can't really complain. Also love how you can sync multiple phones and music to the stereo. acdii Report post Posted March 25, 2013 Curious, do you see the icons with the smile and other tags? Below and to the right is a quote button. If you click that you should see a blueish window, and you paste or type the quote in there. If you do that and get the same results, chances are the forum uses some kind of flash, or java based script that isnt supported on your phone.

ConFusioned Report post Posted March 25, 2013 I do use a mobile device and as a new forum member I didn't see a problem asking a question other forum members would be more than happy to answer and I didn't see a need to start a new topic just to ask how to reference a previous comment. I did look for a help section but couldn't find one and would like to thank acdii for going the extra mile to help a fellow FFH owner.
