malibu3105 Report post Posted March 20, 2013 Agreed, if I get the TI I may go with seat covers in the summer. We shall see. The TI has a lot that I would like. So it's all about the $$ at this point. Hope to get it nailed down and ordered by Friday.
Toz Report post Posted March 21, 2013 yea, I really wish that Ford would not limit your choices on the higher end trim, but I really felt the need to go with the Ti because of the push button start. I keep my cars for a long time and I can't help but feeling that in five years or so that having to use a key to start your car is going be about like having manual roll up windows is now. acdii Report post Posted March 21, 2013 Well, one thing by having these packages, it does speed up production and limits their inventories. Like the Ginger Ale paint, if something doesn't sell, and they produced a lot of them, then they are stuck with a bunch of unsold items. It helps to keep costs down, and since the Ti trim is different from the S and SE trims, if they produced a bunch of Dune interiors and they didnt sell, then they would have to jack up the costs to make up for them. At least with the paint they dont need to stock a lot of it since it can be mixed up from stock colors quickly, but leather seats and door panels need to be made and stored,

When a car first goes into production the necessary parts are ordered by Ford from the particular vendor that makes the part and it is shipped to the assembly plant. It a pretty smooth process. Ford saves a lot of money by doing it that way. Edited March 21, 2013 by hermans
acdii Report post Posted March 21, 2013 Sure they do, but consider that if they have 2 seat trims, then they have to have 6 seat trim lines, currently they have 5, the S and SE Charcoal and dune cloth and leather and Ti leather charcoal. Some where they have to store them prior to shipping since I doubt they are made after the orders are placed, but are made based on projected sales so the line can keep moving. Logistics man, Logistics, mind boggling at times when you have thousands of parts that all meld into one built unit.
malibu3105 Report post Posted March 21, 2013 I agree, except that we are talking about the difference between the SE and TI, both cars are identical arn't they? Except for accessies? The SE can be purchased with heated leather seats. Why not just use the Dune leather heated seats in the TI? Seems like an easy thing for Ford to do. They should not need to order or build anything different. Just put the SE Dune leather seats in the TI. Seems simple to me. But then what to I know, maybe they are different..... But I can't be the only one to drive in a very hot area, where black leather does not make sense.
acdii Report post Posted March 21, 2013 Seats are not the same in the Ti as the SE. Different covers. The internals may be the same, but the actual seat cover itself is different. 1 elle reacted to this
Toz Report post Posted April 5, 2013 I am one week from giving up. Next week will be 8 weeks with no progress at all. I know that alot of you guys on this forum have waited a lot longer, but that was befor any HyTi's were even being built. I have watched some of the members here and on BOF who have ordered weeks after me who have at least gotten VINs and build dates and some of them are expexting their cars to arrive in a few days. I figgure that I can put a few $bucks$ into my current car, keep it on the road for one more year and I can re-order a '14 next Jan for a March pick up date. Heck, maybe I should just go and order a new Avalon. Toyota made them look sooooo much like the Fusion anyway. <sarcasm>

As you can see in my signature after 2 1/2 months of nothing it went really fast. I agree with a lot of members that the ordering system is crap customer orders should be scheduled as they come in regardless of dealer allocation. Hang in there... acdii Report post Posted April 5, 2013 I talked to my dealer, its based more on turn around of the dealer than anything else. If your dealer sells a lot of Fusions, then they get higher allocations, and orders are built sooner for them. Its all percentage based. You should harass your dealer, tell them to sell more cars so yours gets built! :)
shaggy314 Report post Posted April 5, 2013 (edited) At this point, my Ti will be unscheduled - clean for 13 weeks minumum... It is nice to know it should have the issues with earlier cars. Although once June 1st comes, I'm switching to a 2014MY. Here's the latest 2014 Fusion information available from Donlen:04/15/2013 2014MY Order Bank Open Date05/16/2013 2014MY Scheduling Begins - Hermosillo Plant07/17/2013 2014MY Scheduling Begins - Flat Rock07/15/2013 2014MY Job #1 Date - Hermosillo Plant08/26/2013 2014MY Job #1 Date - Flat Rock Plant EDITED: 14 weeks... :-) Edited April 17, 2013 by shaggy314
Toz Report post Posted April 10, 2013 well according to the "preview" sheet my car has a build date of the week of 6May. So goodbye April. Hopefully I will at least get the VIN this week.
Toz Report post Posted April 12, 2013 Finally got my VIN Took 8 weeks. Build week of 6 may. I figure maybe 3 weeks for delivery. That will make it 15 weeks from order to delivery. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. If I didn't love this car so much I would have canceled the order about three weeks ago. Ruby I love you so much! why do you treat me sooo bad. :heartbreaker: :chairshot:

GregDallas Report post Posted April 12, 2013 Not sure exactly where I stand. I ordered 3/22 and the dealer gave me a VIN a couple of days later when I asked for it. The window sticker showed up on 4/10. If I read right that means the build is probably a week later (4/17)? I guess I'm a lucky one with a pretty short timeframe if that happens. 1 neod192 reacted to this
